So as the title says, I'm going to start playing BG2 and ToB addictively again sine the Gog download was offered(my brother stole my CDS and took them to England ages ago, four years to be precise).

My only problem is that I really want to make the experience as good as it can be, and from what I remember I need some addons for that, the problem being I've forgotten most of the addons that both work and are worth the download and install.

I've searched but haven't found any up to date posts with what I'm looking for so I thought a new thread is in order.

In any case, these are the addons I've already downloaded either because I remember them or I read their description when I was searching the mod sections and thought they seemed to be worth it:

    - Ascension/Weidu
    - SP collection pack
    - Tashia remix v1.3
    - SP fixpack
    - BoM item pack
    - Volcano pack
    - Morrow Gate
    - D0 Quest pack
    - Saerelith v1.3
    - Kitpack 6
    - Weimer Solaufein pack
    - Weimer Valen Pack

Now from what I remember, there are still a few things I'm looking for. I remember there being an extended Viconia romance mod(And Viconia is my favorite female character, so I really need that :p) as well as a Black Guard kit.

I'm also looking for any good fix packs, since I'm the kind of person who usually doesn't patch the game because for some reason I never encounter game breaking bugs, as well as anything that adds content or anything noteworthy to the experience(like the firekraag mod that adds a full set of armor for the holy avenger, despite the fact that I never got it to work so I haven't downloaded it this time).

While some mods also seemed fun, they seemed to alter the entire experience and I'm not really looking for something different, I'm looking to enhance whats there, so no mods that alter things(like the dungeon skip) but anything that adds to the already stellar BG2 story would be much appreciated.

Also, I've seen some mods around that create nicer images for weapons and spells etc(and I must admit, IWD2 has the BG series on weapon and spell icons), but I don't know how they would affect the game and if they are actually good, so if anyone could let me know it would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the long post, but I don't keep up to date with the modding community and my searches haven't really turned up much.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S Wasn't sure if this belongs in BG section or IE modding, so forgive me if I got it wrong.

You really need to install official patch and then then G3 BG2 fix pack mod. Most mods are built around the fixes they introduce, and most mods will be buggy and not installed correctly (trouble!) if you don't have the fixes installed beforehand.

    As for mods...

Aagh avoid Volcano Pack, it has many unbalanced items IIRC. BoM item pack, while is a nice mod with the names of all contributors here, (not mine though, I have missed that glorious opportunity) has some buggy and unbalanced items as well.

I can reccomend some excellent mods though.

Spell Revisions:I like the changes this mod brings to spells, neatly balancing
them and bringing many more strategies/fun to spell slinging. Quite good mod actually!

Sword Coast Strategems II is a very detailed mod to breath new exciting life and added difficulty to most encounters in BG2, and the best thing it is so customisable that you can freely adjust the difficulty while installing. You can go from slightly smarter enemies to really intelligent and hardcore battles that will force you to reload some time to think new strategies. A must to have!

Wheels of Prophecy:absolutely necessary to change the linear, boring ToB part of the game to a more unlinear, exciting and fresh adventure. It is more like a fix to me. SoA is brilliant, but ToB always felt...forced and meh.. This rectifies it somewhat. Highly reccomended.

Ascension beefs up the bosses and final fight of ToB, making it a grand finale worthy of such an epic game. Add Turnabout for the maximum RP fun at the end of the game. More can be read in my posts in this topic:

Actually, being the self-proclaimed modfreak out here, I have made many mod reccomendations in various topics. You may search them up, or ask spesific questions, I will be glad to help.

I like the mods you recommended, so right now my final list is.

    - G3 Bugfix
    - Ascension
    - BoM Item pack
    - SP collection
    - ImpAsylum
    - D0 Questpack
    - Spell Revisions
    - Wheels of Fortune
    - SCSII
    - MorrowGate(Thinking about it atm)
    - Widescreen mod

There was also a spell graphics mod that I might use but probably wont look that far into it.

My only problem now is that most of the G3 Mods(SCSII, widescreen, D0 Questpack, spell revisions and wheels iirc) have the Dialogue.tlk error, and while I've found some installation orders, I havent found any mods that change/overwrite the dialogue.tlk error. So how do I go about fixing this?

Also currently from what I gather, the orders should be:

    BG2: Soa --> BG2: ToB --> G3 bugfix --> Ascension --> Widescreen mod --> All others beginning with content changes(i.e Wheels).

No Official Patch? You should have installed it before the G3 Bugfix.

As far as the dialogue.tlk error, you should extract the contents of each mod's zip file into the BG2 main directory, and run setup from there.

I just recently installed the BWP on my laptop too. It probably the coolest thing ever! I can only recommend it, even if you don't feel like installing thousands of mods. The installer tool takes care of the order, even if you select only a hand full of mods!

I did install the official path(the tob one, SoA one said it wasnt necessary since I had tob) although I just googled and took the first result, so I might not have gotten the right one.

I run all the setups in the BG2 folder, but I still get the dialogue.tlk error.

    ---------- Added 1 hours, 59 minutes and 37 seconds later... ----------

I'd just like to say that I've successfully installed, patched and modded BG2 and I'm ready to relive the adventure, thanks for all the help.

BoM Item pack is best to be avoided unless taken care of.

Why is it "best to be avoided"? And further what do you mean by "unless taken care of"?

I think he might have meant that the mod may still have some rather unbalanced/buggy items and unless they are fixed, perfectionists might not enjoy it so much.
