[IMG] Hey guys, I have been searching for a way to solve this problem for a long time, and finally decided I should hit the forums. So here I go.

There is a point towards the end of the game where you have some dialogue with Serevok. After the dialogue he attacks you then proceeds to run away. SUPPOSEDLY that attack shouldn't kill you. I cannot remember what lvl my ranger was, but it was at, or above, the recommended lvl for that area of the game. BUT no matter what that one attack from Serevok killed me, NO WAY AROUND IT. I gave up long ago, and now I have to start all over again. Is there some way to avoid such a disaster this time around, or am I just crazy?

Any responses would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Are you talking about the battle in the Duchal Palace? If so, you MUST protect a couple of people in there from dying (the Duke and Duchess?) at the hands of the Dopplegangers. If you fail, you are dead.

I think thats where he means, TA. If your trying it solo, I never made it past that point myself. I think that parts harder then the end of the game!

It's not that part, but it is right around there. This is right before you chase after Serevok. He says something, cannot remember for the life of me, then attacks the main character once and leaves. With that one attack I died everytime. Thanks for the input though, I appreciate it. I just don't want to go through the whole game and get stuck again.

Well, you could always use the console and the instant-death key combo on Sarevok since this sounds like a bug. I'm not sure if this would screw up the rest of the game though. Do you have the patch installed?

[IMG] sounds like you had the same problem i had (see string "Sarevok: Duchal Palace".

I was letting everyone fight it out while keeping out of the way. Then when they had finished fighting i went back into the main room, Sarevok spoke and tried to leave, and i died instantly. I didnt even see what attacked me.

So, making sure you protect the important people from the dopplegangers may solve the problem. If you do, they will talk to you and you'll get to show them the diary or the invitation proving him to be bad. Then he leaves, you get teleported to the Thieves' Guild, and go onto the final areas.

    Hope this helps.

    [IMG] BG - too long?

That's what I thought after I played through it the first time, but if you are willing to just follow the main storyline you can play it very, very fast. What takes time is exploring all the areas - which is a great thing, but not needed. :)

It's easily possible to get to the start of chapter 5 in an evening. Then you can spend another evening in Baldur's Gate because there are so many good things to get there. The third evening you rush through Candlekeep Catacombs (an hour perhaps) and then get back to Baldur's Gate to finish the game.
Three evenings to finish the game. Ok, you miss out on any exploring outside the main storyline, so this is definitely only for those who have played the game at least once before. :D

Well, you see... Even though I complain about it, I LOVE exploring a game to its fullest extent. I have already started with a fighter, but was thinking of doing a paladin. My friend had the godliest pally ever in BG2, and you get to use that awesome sword. So I might have to start over again, OIY! If you guys have any comments on paladins concerning strengths and weakness, by all means please let me know.

    THANKS
