I'm toying with the idea of starting up again. I've played one and a half times, with a pally and fighter/mage, with the basic party....Misnc, Immy, Jaheria, Keldorn.

I'd like to switch up the party...I tried evil, but I just can't get going. I was thinking maybe a druid. Any suggestions on which kit to use or party make up?

Well if you're going to have an evil party then you'll probably want to consider having Edwin (conjurer), Viconia (cleric), Korgan (fighter) who are evil and fill the rest with neutral NPCs such as Jan (thief/illusionist), Haer'Dalis (blade), Cernd (shapeshifter) and even maybe Yoshimo (bounty hunter) or Anomen (fighter/cleric).

Also if you don't like Jan or Yoshimo and don't want to use good-aligned thieves then you'll probably want the PC to be a thief (either dual or multiclass). But i guess if you definitely want to play as a druid then I would recommend totemic druid in terms of kits, or simply a fighter/druid multiclass.

If you're more interested in the druid spells rather than the druid class, a multi or dual classed ranger/cleric gets access to all divine spells, druid and cleric.

Of course, this combo only allows blunt weapons.

For a druid I'd go with the Avenger kit, I enjoyed it.

Get the armour The Nights Gift and a couple of scimitars and you're set for weapons and such.

When I did it my party was Avenger, Minsc, Keldorn,Yoshimo (Imoen), Viconia, and Jan.

I played with a totemic druid for a while... Quite powerful at the beginning, but later the summons become rather weak. in SoA the lack of shapeshifting is no big deal, I'm not sure it's whether you get elemental shifts later.

You probably will, but might i warn you that this is the SOA forum only. Talking too much ToB will get Tal angry.

You can play an evil thief, but the problem then is that you cannot side with bodhi in chapter 2. Bear that in mind.

How come? I haven't tried, but it would seem normal to cross the shadow thieves if you are see greater gain and are neutral or chaotic evil.

Try the dual class Berserker/Druid and specialize either in dual wielding scimitars or a two-handed quarterstaff... The berserker rage is a great asset and you'll be able to wear heavy armours and cast druidic spells.
Still Jaheira being MC you might get annoyed when she'll get fighter HLAs.
The Berserker/Druid is a Druid with better fighting abilities (and extra HP), not a Fighter or a MC like the Ranger/Cleric, so you compare it with the Druidic kits.
Compared with a Totemic Druid, an Avenger or a Shapeshifter, the Berserker/Druid is actually quite good (the Berserker Rage is wonderful) and since Cernd is already a Shapeshifter, you are not going to need a 2nd one.

The Shapeshifter has a great advantage in weight allowance when turned into a werewolf, I think you can carry as much as 500 (or was it 700?). No matter, that will sure help you bring all heavy stuff out of the dungeon.

Another point of interest - which should not be totally forgotten - is the roleplaying aspect of the Shapeshifter. Isn't it just THE coolest thing to be able to shift into a werewolf? I mean - who wouldn't wanna be able to do that?

I vote for the shapeshifter ;)

@the shaman- i have heard this one from several sources- bodhi and friends will not request your help if you a re a thief. Logical really, since they are at war with the thieves.

[IMG] Considering Mulsis posted his question in the SoA-only forum, he doesn't have ToB. So all ToB material posted here thus far is irrelevant to him and a spoiler. And against the guidelines of this forum. So no more, please.
