I'm currently on the third day of the time-looped magma chamber and I seem to have gotten stuck thanks to a bug. The walkthroughs say I'm supposed to see a conversation between Venomin and Lothar after I witness Lothar killing the priestess, but I don't when I head over to Lothar's place. The walkthroughs also told me that I'm supposed to see Venomin run past me then teleport away, but I just see him standing there on the eastern side of the 'upper levels' part of the map (and he still says the stuff he normally says when you talk to him at the start of this day of the time-loop, i.e. "You guys are crazy"). How do I get around this?

Another unrelated question, might as well: Is it possible to get through the game with a no-magic party (say, members consisting only of non-casting classes; barbarian, fighter, monk, rogue)?

Some of the scripts require you get close enough to the people that are supposed to do something. So just seeing Lothar, for example, isn't enough, you need to see him and Venomin at the same time, and they need to be able to see you.

No-magic party would struggle with the various slimes and other physically immune monsters, but there's enough weapons with fire damage and different sorts of flaming oils to be ABLE to. Also, Necklace of Missiles is usable by anyone and works wonders as a poor man's fireball. Other than that, you'll do just fine. The game has been soloed by all classes by now.

I'll try moving around Lothar's area to see if Venomin's on a spot of the map I can't see. I've tried talking to Lothar directly and he just says what he usually does.

Any suggestions for builds? I plan to do this with a four-man party, and I might just 'cheat' around the "no magic" restriction by having a rogue with UMD ranks.

If you're not intending to do HOF, you can pick four characters that you like and go with it. As mentioned above, it's been soloed with non-magical characters so you shouldn't have a problem with four non-magical characters.

For variety, I'd say monk, barbarian, fighter and some sort of rogue or rogue blend. There's also nothing that says you can't do a paladin or ranger with stats such that they cannot learn spells -- thus opening the class to you but making sure no spells are used.

For having fun with a 4 non-magic party without level squatting I recommend the following (str-dex-con-int-wis-cha):

    half-orc monk 20-18-16-1-18-1
    half-orc barbarian 20-18-18-1-16-1
grey dwarf fighter 18-18-20-3-14-1 (ECL so the other classes level faster, deep gnome works well too)
human rogue 18-18-14-12-3-11 (diplomat and scientist with UMD, lockpicking or trap disarming isn't needed for the game)

Do you get anything extra from beating HoF or is it one of those bragging rights/feeling of accomplishment things?

You get better items and about 10 extra levels. Other than that, no.

HoF can be quite fun though, since by then your party has reached its potential, and you get to test its mettle against the best IWD2 can throw at you. A well-made party can roll through HoF.
