My sister recently gave me her 8gb IPod touch. Before she sent it to me she put a bunch of music from my computer on there for me. Problem is Itunes wants to sync to the library I have now and erase the IPod. Is there anyway around this so I can keep the songs that are on the IPod? I've messed around in the settings and really didnt see anything. I tried reseting the sync history but I still only got the option to clear the IPod and sync with the current library

You won't get far with iTunes...

The moment you use iTunes to put new songs it'll sync the old one off.

This is why I resorted to a third party software for my G5.5

The thing is, music and other media is bundled into an one-block archive once put on your pod.
By default by- makes it faster for the pod to access data like this, instead reading it from a random location on memory

The pod then reads the index of the archive and plays the corresponding piece of the archive block.

Which also means that the archive must be rebuild every time music is put, removed or changed from the pod.

A simple drag and drop is not possible.

3rd partly software like rockbox changes this and makes the pod behave like a HDD which plays music.

You may try winamp too, which should support your pod.

    Cheers!
