Funny site you may have heard of: Damn You, Auto Correct!

They collect submissions of the sometimes horrific results of auto-corrected spelling in texts and e-mail, etc. that use the ubiquitous (and at times sinister) feature.

This one appeared in the blog I was reading that referenced the site:

I admire Darci's determination and whatever-it-takes attitude, but I still think this was a bit too forward. :D

Depending on her looks, I might be inclined to hire her on the basis of that text message alone!

Correct spelling is redundant to most people i gather. As long as you get your point across, for which you don't necessarily need prefect grammar.
For example, we've similar languages with our southern neighbors, and some of their people living here, despite years, even decades, they haven't bothered to learn our language. Gibbering in a mixture of their native and pieces of ours gets them understood and that's all they need.
Granted, they usually don't need to convey complex ideas.

I've noticed with myself as well, i've been repeating a few spelling mistakes pretty much since i learned enough english to string a few sentences together. Despite schoolteachers corrections, despite red wavy lines appearing underneath it here on BoM (and other places). I simply didn't -need- to, everyone understood.

But striving (however lazy) toward it is important IMO, else the whole thing eventually degenerates into twitter talk.

Damn you auto correct is becoming one of my favorite time wasters on the interwebs.

    Promotionalkittenbasket!

EDIT: And I just felt cool and all that I knew the site before seeing it here, and then I noticed this thread is two months old already. Maybe I know it from here...

I saw a funny one a couple of days ago. A guy was texting his mother. She asks him if he's hungry because she left him a surprise in the kitchen. What he MEANT to ask was if it was her shaved pork. Only the auto-correct changed "pork" to a slang word starting with "p" for... ahem... a part of a female anatomy. I laughed so hard I almost cried. Specially since the guy freaks out and tries to apologies...
