I'm playing through BG1 right now with a F/T PC who I'm planning to import into SOA afterwards. I don't think I've ever tried SOA with a multi-class PC before and was wondering how the strongholds work. Will I get both the d'Arnise Keep and the Thieves' Guild?

The standard functionality is that you get only one stronghold, the one you accept first. For example, a Cleric/Mage can get either the temple or the planar sphere, depending on which quest you complete first.

But dual- and multi-classed fighters can get two strongholds; you just need to get the other stronghold first. So a F/T should first complete Renal's quest and then liberate the De'Arnise keep. If you do it the other way around, Renal won't offer you to take over Mae'Var's guildhall.

I've read you need to do De'Arnise keep to the point of being offered the keep -- I believe there's a "let me think about it"-type dialog option. Then do and accept the other keep, then accept De'Arnise.

Keep in mind most fix packs corrected this and a multiple stronghold mod may be necessary.

Cool, thanks guys. I don't really mind just doing one if that's what the creators intended, just wanted to know how I should plan out my game. I definitely want the thieves' guild as I've never done that stronghold before. If I could get the d'Arnise Keep too that's a bonus but I won't be too bothered if it doesn't work out.
