Having a small issue

Its always something old games or new. I have a decent Asus Laptop which I figure should play the game fine but every 2 minutes or so my mouse kinda freezes. Its more like a small stutter then lag.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I am not really sure why but the game is installed in the F: Drive and it says no more free space. Could this be the problem? I have the graphic settings turned low so I am really out of ideas. If anyone could help me out with this problem I would be in their debt forever. I reallly really want to enjoy playing this game.

Does it happen when you're not playing? If it doesn't then your game is probably unpatched.

These should help. If possible, please install the expansion first and use the Throne of Bhaal expansion patch.

The infinity engine games are pretty old, you can probably even play them with everything set to max on 2000's PC.

What exactly do you mean by not playing? In the character creation screen? It does sometime happen there as well. Other then that my computer is fine. Do you think the patches will still help or do I need to try something else?

So, I want to download the Throne of Bhaal expansion patch? I am almost positive I have it it says so in my files but when I boot up the game it say Shadows of Amn. Could this have anything to do with it? Again, I really appreciate anyone taking the time to help me I know its probably not very fun or exciting.

So, I figured out I do have ToB I was just only clicking on SOA. So, I am going to set that up tomorrow. Everything else will work the same right? It will just add more content to the end of the game and might fix my stutter issue?

I just want to make sure this does not add more issues or anything. I am going to wait until tomorrow to make sure.

Yep, the patch should help. Your friend probably had an older copy of ToB, which had compatibility issues with newer (at least at the time) versions of windows.

Still having the issue. I can't Install SoA for some reason I have no idea it asks me to put in disk 2 but my friend didn't give me any disks he said everything I needed was here.

I have been using this page: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/41036-faq-for-the-megamods/

To try and help but so far nothing has worked. I can't find the Gpedit.msc file anywhere and it will not let me disable gpedit.dll. Does anyone have any idea where this could be? It says to just go down to the main start windows button and type it in right?

Do you think I should uninstall everything and then try and instal ToB from the start instead of SoA and then ToB? I have a good computer this is just so depressing. I have some time off and was going to devote it to playing this game but of course nothing in my life can ever work.

I guess you have Vista or Win7?
So you have read this FAQ?:
    http://www.shsforums.net/topic/41036-faq-for-the-megamods/page__p__504045#entry504045

Normally, you should do a full install SoA. Then a full install ToB. Then install the ToB patch as described in above link.

As far as I know you shouldn't need to manipulate any dll files whatsoever.

If you have a clean install as described above, you can experiment by manipulating the settings of the bgconfig.exe.
try with or without 3D acceleration and so on.

Don't use any mods for the first play, you still can experiment with them later.

What Hannibal says should work! The Gpedit.msc file has something to do with multiplayer.

If all else fails, try doing a google search for that file. I found a link to the SevenForums where someone else had the same problem. It doesn't mention which game it was for. Look for "Problem solved".

That is deff the best info on the subject but my problem now is it keeps asking for a disk 2 when I try and Install ToB. Why I have no idea. I did some reading and found out Infinityhack should fix the problem but I can't send the files to the same location as my BG2 files because its in the F: Driver and it says I have no more room. So, unless I can switch it around or remove unneeded items from F: Driver I think I am screwed when it comes to ToB. Hopefully this does not mean my game is stuck with mouse lag forever.......

Is there any place I can just buy the full game? Id pay over 60 I just want to play it. You have been awesome Hannible and I am sure its frusturating to answer my questions only to have another pop up.

You can also get a pack from Implse/gamestop for about $15 that has BG1, BG2, IWD1, IWD2, Planescape Torment and Temple of Elemental Evil complete with all expansions etc for all of them.

Ok so I am deff going to just buy the game. Ten dollars for one of if not the best RPG of all time is a no brainer.

Will the fact I already have the game on my computer screw with it? Should I delete everything before I buy it? Do you think buying the game will help with some of the mouse lag? How much of a difference with the newest ToB pacth make?

By the way I have managed improve the mouse lag by turning alot of things off. Such as most of the in game text. I also run as admin ( I think its tricky) and turn off my wireless connection.

The stutter bug was a well-known issue back when Windows XP first came out and the latest official patch includes a fix to it.
