Minsc lost in the Underdark

    As I was fighting one of the "Trapped Souls" in the Underdark, the soul that I was fighting cast a spell and Minsc disappeared and never came back.

    Is there anything that can be done about this? Where did he go?

    I tried to cast the freedom spell and the Mage appeared. After I helped the Mage then I tried to cast another freedom spell and nothing happened.

    Can you see his portrait?

    It's strange that freedom didn't help - it means that he wasn't imprisoned or mazed.
    Are you sure that he wasn't turned to stone?
    Nothing else comes to my mind.

    No portrait might have been a Disintegrate spell. Check if there is a little cube of grey stuff where he disappeared.

    Also true.

    No portrait means that if he isn't where he disappeared after you cast freedom you can reload or play without him.

    I'm pretty sure that being disintegrated is BAD. Too bad that Minsc is gone.

    I loaded that fight about 5 or 6 times and each time one of my party disappeared. I figured that somehow Minsc got trapped inside that machine and there would be a way to get him out so I moved on. But now I'm about to head out of that area and I wanted to get him out before leaving.

    I cast the Freedom spell again and then went to the area where Minsc was lost and he was there, so I got him back. I thought that I had already tried that but I guess that I assumed that he would appear wherever the rest of the party was.

    Yes that mage has a NASTY habbit of imprisoning party members, BUT being disintegrated is even worse, gone for good...And with Minsc's bad save vs spells he nearly always fail!

    Why, a lich casted a Disintegrate and he was reduced into dust! I know there is NO way to bring him back, well a good Wish may help in pen and paper, but now...

    I reloaded. I don't fell happy about it but come on, I love Minsc and Boo in my party, and I can not let them perish because of an unlucky dice roll. Am I guilty or right? This is my dilemma.

    It is what I would have done. Just think of it as Boo using some powerful time reverse magic that is exclusive to miniature giant space hamsters.
