[IMG] I am curious how often do you lie your party to rest?
I mean do you do it after every battle? (sleep 24 out of 30 hours?). You should obviously do so if you have magicplay dominating over powerplay...
Well personally i am "workaholic" i rest as less as possible. Just do not like wasting time on sleeping untill it is absolutelly necessary.
BTW i think that i am going for world record in in-game time (not real time)spent to finish BG2. Its hard indeed. Chars are constantly fatigued and mages are almost useless cause they have ran out of spells. Good that I got ring of regen at least...

What penalties does fatigued character get?
Can i rest as much as i want to or there are any penalties/inconveniencies in that?
(I think if u can rest infinitely you can ran through game single w/o problems, cant u?)

well i use to finish games in like 30 game days, which to say the least is very fast... thats even doing a majority of the quests.

But currently im playing all mages and im already at 36 days, but thats because i use up spells so fast, and need to sleep before every single boss so i have all my spells.

But i suggest sleeping more because it moves the romances along faster and in general keeps the moral up.

[IMG] When playing with a fighter or paladin dominated party, the rests are very rare, my party is on the road about 36 hours long, because I use as few magic spells as possible. But when using mages, more rest is needed, because the spellcasting is so phisically, mentally draining process. At least 12 hours of rest is needed per day.

Just a quick note about an earlier comment. It was suggested that it was a good idea to rest frequesntly to help the romances along. In fact this can be counter productive and actually kill off the Jahera romance (not sure about the others so much). The problem is that the romances contain triggers that are activated by both real time and game time. If you keep resting you speed up the passage of game time (8 hours at least per rest) but not the passage of real life time. This can cause key events to get out of sink, which kills the romance.

If you want more info on romances use the search function. For a detailed list of tools and tricks for the romance and quite a spolier on the Jaheira romance see here:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001746.html

There are also some patches that can speed things up. See our own Sorcerer's stuff and here:
    http://members.home.net/mrkevvy/fixes.html

Of course, if you complete the Jaheira romance, 'resting' frequently is a very good idea!!

I have talked to friends that rest alot but i try to only rest in places that you would normally want to rest in. Like inns and maybe a night or two in the free. I only rest in dungeons if everybody is fatigued opr i really need a certain spell.

I also choose to rest in a realistic manner. I try not to sleep every time I use a spell or so. Even when my mage is out of spells I may continue if I figure magic won't be that important further on. It also makes the game a bit more interesting. The only thing that will make me sleep in a dungeon or in the wild is if I'm all out of means of healing.

Resting is a funny thing. I use it mostly when I need multiple Identify spells right before selling a bunch of items. Other than that I am full go until fatigued or critically injured with no spells left.

Does anyone know how many hours of game time need to go by before people become fatigued? What is the penalty for fatigue? Does constitution affect the time until fatigue occurs?

Yes, it is affected by stats. STR and CON I assume. My Ranger/Cleric with STR 18/00 and 18 CON could go forever. I actually don't remember her being fatigued unless she drunk two potions of speed one after another.

[IMG] Really. What penalties does fatigued character suffer? nr of attacks is the same, movement - maybe a little slower, THAC0 and Damage - not affected. This fatigue doesn't seem too harmful.

As far as I can remember, every fatiqued char gets a -1 penalty to his attack and defense roles every 4 hours. It's mentioned somewhere in the manual too I think, try reading that.

I hate reading paper. Want manual in *.pdf or *.doc. Have any?
Btw is this fatigue penalty cumulative? i mean - -1 every 4 hours = -4 in 16 hours?

Uh, guys and gals, check your BG2 installation folder. With each install also comes the Baldur's Gate 2 Manual.pdf

Just to save you all from mailing it around the globe. ;)

    Yes, Tal!

I was just kidding about mailing - thought about how long would it take people to find the Adobe Acrobat Installation and the .pdf BG2 Manual on the very first BG2 disc.

PEOPLE! Don't be lazy! Check what you've got already, and often it saves you time for asking others.

    EDITED HERE:

I just wanted them to know that even though they speak a foreign language, some of us might understand anyway. My brother's wife is Lithauian.

Sorry Tal! it was a stupid way to convince them to speak english
