i was just wondering about the aprentices u are asked to train after completing the planar sphere quest. I tried many times asking different combinations of projects for them to make. Though on hte final project ( staff of power, robe of the aprenti etc ) at least one of them always dies. i was wondering if this was due to chance or if it was set.

could some 1 give me some advice on this, as i'l really like that staff of power.

    Tah.

The final project requires that all three apprentices be alive and that 1 will die, though it can be completed. Of course, having 1 apprentice die means that you don't get EXP.

The only way to get that staff of power, or whatever the final project is, while also getting the EXP would be to use the console. There seems to be no other way.

You must have all three but if you want to graduate them[which has funny dialogues] you mustn't let them make something for you

There is another staff, the staff of magi, which is better than the staff you can make (staff of power), I believe.

IIRC, the other final project was the Ring of Wizardry.

The lives of the apprenti are definitely set. If you want the good items, some of them die.

But is the success rate of making each project set? Or is it a random percent chance thing?

Where can I see the stats of the Staff Of Power? I have Staff of the Magi for Tashia, but Imoen still has nothing more than a mere clerical staff.

As for the Twisted Rune, I was actually expecting for a difficult fight, only to see that I could beat the fight alone with my main and Tashia before even going through many of the quests in the mainland (Firkraag, Planar Sphere were left for later, for example), before going to Spellhold, and with Ascension installed. It's hardly a difficult fight. Though better than +2 weapons are needed.

Tarsakh, apprentices are from Mage Stronghold quest (Planar Sphere)

Foradasthar, here are stats for Staff of Power:
3-8 damage, +1 THAC0 (strikes as +5 weapon), speed 1, weight 3, +2 AC, +2 saves, Invulnerability, Lightning Bolt of Paralyzation
    (I got this information from http://mikesrpgcenter.com/bgate2/weapons/quarterstaffs.html )

    edit: typos...

[IMG] Be warned - when the apprentices blow up they sometimes take the other two with them. Or just one more, meaning that you cannot get the item because it hasn't registered they were could in the explosion.

    Does that make sense?

It is better to leave the last item IMHO
