This is my first ever play of BG I, and I'm running it with the BG II engine via EasyTuTu. So I'm not sure how this should be going. I dualclassed a fighter at Lv 2 to Mage thinking I could keep weapons proficienices. At Lv 3 Mage, I do not still have the fighter weap proficiencies, and I found a ring of wizardry that doesn't seem to do anything for me. I don't know if this is all as it's supposed to be, or if there may be a problem? Too many possible complications for a first-timer.

You should've been able to use the mage items from the moment you dualled, unless you had a wizard slayer kit for your fighter. The proficiencies should've reappeared as well after you reached lvl 3 as a mage.

I don't know what could've gone wrong, though you might be able to 'fix' it through shadow keeper (you can edit your characters from the savegame and move their proficiency points from the first class to the second class so they should be visible). Can you add more than one proficiency point to a weapon class now that you reached lvl 3? If not, something has definitely gone wrong.

Thanks. I'll start this one over and see if it comes out different. I've tried a few chars to see what I want to stick with the first time.

I'd first enable the cheat codes, start a new game with the same build, and use the CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP(X) cheat to quickly test it.
No sense investing all that time when the problem might be something else.

If the new character works with the cheats, then you know your current char was corrupted. If it doesn't work, then some mod or something has FUBARed the install, and perhaps you need to reinstall the game.
