[IMG] I am going through BG2 first time as a MONK, and am interested in swiping Keldorns armor, but I only have 10 INT.

What can I use to 'raise' my intelligence enough to wear this armour - I presume that a potion of genius isnt going to do it, as I would need it raised 'permanently' wouldn't I?

The potion will raise your intelligence long enough to get the armour on - just don't ever take it off.

The real problem is that monks can't wear armour, so I don't think the potion will be a lot of help.

monks can wear THAT armour only, and it's useful until he levels up a bit.

Drink some intelligence potions then cast dispell magic on yourself. Also it gives free action as well, problem is you can't wear it with protection rings, cloaks or amulets.

I beleive a Tome Of Clear Thought will help you out...

Although it only raises it by 1 point.

Keep him bare or magically enhance his armor class.

Tomes? There is no way to get those other than cheating. In fact, most of them don't even work at all, and may cause bugs, because they're NOT supposed to be in the game, just in the old engine. And you could've have meant from BG1, because he's already playing BG2, plus you can't play a Monk in BG1 so that's out of the question as well.

Besides, drinking that potion will help you to get on that armor, but you have to repeat that every level up - any a monk is such a power-char - he doesn't need any armor at all.

    My faux pas.....

Sarevok: I thought he was soloing as a monk...CLUAConsole seemed like an appropriate out for his AC dilemma, since most people don't solo until their second go-thru!

If it's first time through, then How can you possibly advocate cheating?

Surely the idea must be to beat the game using only the normally availible stuff, found in the conventional manner. Ie beating people up for it. (Nice world eh?)

Doesn't actually say anything about soloing though....

    I beleive it says:

"I am going through BG2 first time as a MONK"

This can be translated as: "This is my first go through", or: "This is my first go through as a monk"

As I said before, it was a mistake that I made by reading it. I'm fully aware that you make no mistakes, and therefore have every right to be furious at me for daring to translate this post in such a manner!

Now...unless you are going to get out the hanging rope and string me up, could we please drop it? I was only trying to help the guy out!

    Sheesh.....

I am certainly NOT soloing first time through the game, and I actually think soloing is a little silly, childish and defeats the purpose of the game, but oh well, that's me..

I tend to hear a lot that monks are very powerful later in the game, but I am still at Level 9 and I don't FEEL so powerful at the moment ;)..

Stick with it my friend....IMHO Monks (at level 15 and up) are quite likely the deadliest class out there.

Try soloing once....it's fun! Trust me!

You have a great character going...just be patient!
