I would just like to remind all 27 of you that voted for Imoen (so far) in the poll of NPCs who you would most like to have a romance with that:

SHE'S YOUR SISTER!!!

I cant't believe you would actually want a romance with your sister (half sister if you really want to be pedantic). I seriously hope that this in no way reflects upon your behaviour in real life

To quote one of the comments from the poll:
'but imeon's your half sister - are you lot cornish or something?'

 

Why should her being your sister stop you from wanting to have a romance with her? Prejudice perhaps? This shows how you can be so stuck in western morals/ethics that you cannot imagine or roleplay anything else.

 

I do think it's a bit perverted to want a romance with your sister. On the other hand, Imoen can't really be considered your sister according to human standards. You may both be children of Bhaal but that is a more divine connection. Besides if all the BG story hadn't happened you'd never know she is *family*. I don't know. It would be a nice roleplay option...

 

personaly i chose Nalia as i think she looks very pretty and that accent is quite sexy........however Imoen is better although the incest put me off.
What i would like to know is the person who chose Jan!

I think it would have been cool to have Imoen about a bit BEFORE you found out, then the comic embarrasment would have been great!

Nalia actually reminds me of someone I dated, so I'm a little keen on her. However, Viconia is by far the most interesting. She's the kind thats cool at the beginning but you end up broke and screwed in the end, but hey, great skin, eyes and hair.

It all depends on which country's law you look at. Some countries have a death penalty for homosexual relations while others allow homosexual partnership/marriage.
In some countries you are not allowed to have sex until the age of 21 in others the age of consent is 12. These laws are culturally based. There is nothing really harmful in having sex when you're younger than 12 so this is nothing more than a culturally based restriction on the human rights of young persons.

Anyway, my point is that a fantasy adventure should not let itself be governed by what happens to be the current morals of a particular culture.

 

Another thing, besides being your half sister what the hell's wrong with her right eye?? It looks like a glass eye and her hair looks like a wig.

 

The protagonist and Imoen are genetically - not accounting for how the gene of a God interferes - equal to being first cousins. Offspring from first cousins are not generally considered a genetic risk.

Did you know that the original reason for making first cousin marriage illegal in (most of) the US was to facilitate integration between immigrants! It was not based on any fear of genetic disorders. AFAIK in the immigrants european home countries such laws did not exist.

I should add one more thing:
Laws form society and vice versa, so it's good to keep this in mind when we europeans exchange views with americans. Do you recall a film called "Cousins" starring Ted Danson and Isabella Rossellini? I think it's easier for an american to understand that film than it is for a european who may react with a "So what?"

As to those who say that having sex younger isn't harmful... would pregnancy at that young an age be harmful?

AIDS and other STDs tend to be fairly harmful as well. Isn't it strange how these diseases have their root in behavior that society deems immoral? What an odd correlation. Feel free to ponder that.

 

Don't forget her giraffe neck (BG2 portrait) Tyresian. She's your sis, no romance, that's all I got to say.

 

Incidentally, did anyone else feel strange about romancing someone who was sort of a surrogate mother in BG1?

 

Captsone, I never really thought of Jaheira as a foster mother. that would be stretching things a bit in her case. Friend and pest yes, foster mother i"m not thinking so.

I think it does not play a role if she is your sister. Her body is the sister not her soul.
