Hello there fellow adventurers. I am quite new to this forum so I might have typed thread in wrong place. I want to play this game online but I have no friends willing to do so and that is why this thread was given life to. I am looking for people among you to play with me

Even though IWD is largely combat-based, I have found in the past that it isn't all that great of a multiplayer experience.

Is there any particular reason why you wish to play it in multiplayer?

I played baldurs gate 2 online and I really enjoyed it. I`ve never noticed anything bad about the mechanics at multiplayer so I just thought "why the heck not"

By the way what do you find so uncomfortable about the mechanics when it comes to multi

Well, although the games support multiplayer, they weren't really built well for it. Only the leader has any control over conversations, and if you wanna read you have to go at the slowest reader's pace. It's possible to converse with other players during interactions, but it's not really a group role playing experience like you'd expect in a party-based game. Even putting social interaction aside, since there's not much of that in IWD anyway, the real time with pause system isn't all that great for multiplayer. Either all the players can pause the game and it's just a constant stream of pausing and combat not moving at a decent pace or only one person can pause and the others have to constantly submit to his pace. Real time and turn-based both work in multiplayer, but RTwP just sits uncomfortably between the two, allowing for neither good pace nor good structure. And then there's all the time spent leveling up characters, and problems with internet connections, and a myriad of other minor issues that have always got in the way of having a decent gameplay experience for me.

I've found that autopause, scripts, and characters with low amounts of micromanagement make the experience bearable, but I don't really see it as an experience that I'd like to repeat.
