[IMG] I summoned a familiar a while ago. My main character is a neutral evil mage. I summoned an imp and he's been following me around not doing much. He's kinda cool but not real useful.

well NOW he's getting annoying. He won't move. He won't let me command him. He just sits there waiting for me to talk to him. I've tried talking to him but everything I say results in no change. So now he's in my back pack taking up space...

What do I have to do to please this guy?

No idea. I played a good mage and got an obedient fairy dragon, but he's more or less useless too.
I think I had him in my backpack for 99% of gameplay time.
At least the thing gets you some extra HP, which isn't so bad for one inventory slot I suppose.

And how the hell did that happen, Ragusa?
    A game bug?
    Just use Shadowkeeper.

um, ok. So does anyone have any useful answers here? I'm not going to kill it cause then I'll lose 1 constitution point permanently. No thanks. Right now he's in my back pack "resting". I don't know if he'll run off or not. But I'd like to figure out how to make him go back to normal.

[IMG] I´m not quite sure. I was playing a dc kensai-mage then (lawful-neutral - IIRC)and my familiar was a weasel or something like that, skilled in pickpocketing.

First it was kinda funny but I had no real use for it. So I ignored it. I was way to busy with killing enemies and dealing with my tomcat jumping on my desk seeking attention.

I guess stealing my eleven chain was a infameous act of revenge for neglecting this stupid and useless beast (it´s not that I have any problems with stealing in general :D )

    However: Virtual familiars suck!!!

well I'm not gonna download any hack to get rid of it. I don't WANT to get rid of it. It's kinda funny, although I'll agree it's pretty useless. He can polymorph self into various other useless forms but other than that he just flys around with a bad attitude and squeaks. But now he won't even fly around. If I take him out of my pack he just sits there and acts all pissy.

Maybe your Rep is too high?
If your Neutral/Evil and have a high Rep it might not want to interact with you.

[IMG] Good Point! Since your familliar differs with your alignment it is very well possible that he turns silent when unhappy with your rep ... or even runs away (actually I had a pretty good rep for a neutral char :D )

ah..That's not a bad suggestion. My rep is pretty high(14) for being evil and what not. Maybe if I do some bad stuff he'll be happier.

Of course I don't believe evil characters get unhappy with a rep of 14. Betweeen you and I(and everyone else), just keep him in the pack. Outside, it's far too easy to get the thing killed. They are of no actual game use, and leaving them outside your pack creates opertunites to loose what they provide(extra Hp) and more (1 const point). Why have his fly around? Do you really need that one inventory slot that much? Fortunattely, a nasty bioware bug ate mine for lunch, I didn't even loose any Hp or const. :D

Just a thought , during the game you get alot of hints , while loading etc , one of them is "talk to your Familiar, it may have something to say". Try that it may help.

I know I'm new here and all so sorry for the sarcasm...But mage_0 you obviously have read everything I've posted! I DID talk to the familiar. That's the whole POINT. He is no longer under my control. All I can do is talk to him. However no matter what I say he does nothing. The only action I can take is to put him in my pack, which, to me, is even more useless than having his scrawny ass flying around. At least then I can cast invisibility on him and he can scout or something. I thank you for trying to help, but please READ first before doing so.

Sounds like a bug really, possibly caused by him being hurt in the battle or during dream sequence or whatever. This is just a suggestion but try:

1.Casting healing spells on him, if u want also try remove curse/cure disease etc.

2.Charm and friend spells, maybe even domination to get him snap out of this state.

3.Do u have the patch installed? Doesn't have anything for your particular case, but still might help.

I had the same idea as you. I thought maybe something happened to him. So I cast domination on him. And he stopped wanting to talk and was under my control again. Until the spell wore off then he got nasty and started attacking me. SO I gibbed his arse. I don't think it's a bug, I think there's something I need to do to get him to like me again. Just not sure what that might be.

[IMG] Did you test The Watchers idea???
Killing an innocent shouldn't be hard to accomplish. Maybe familiars are a bit more sensitive than NPCs at reputation mismatch.

Yeah I tried that too. It actually turned out kinda funny. I thought I'd try out a new spell(disentigrate) on a nearby bum. Worked great(pile o' dust), then I quickly remembered about the cowled wizards(they appeared and were pissed). So I had to dispatch them as well. I ended up getting my rep down to about 7 but with no affect on my imp. :(

[IMG] Well as for reading what you said , I did , it was just an idea. Maybe instead of being so hostile , you should try talking to it some more. It might be feeling lonely and left out , how would you feel if someone stuck you in a backpack.
