I was protecting the daughter, (second time I've run through the quest), and I killed the guy, not realize that it could be the actual uncle, (because both times he was just as suspicious and he threatened me alike... and it turns out this time it really was the uncle and I've failed :( . Now I wonder if there are any suggestions for what to do now! I don't have a save for before it happened... and I totally forgot about detect evil  . But why would a paladin of Torm attack someone he knows he couldn't beat? (The name of Eric is well known among the Paladins of the Order!!) *sigh*

[IMG] If you don't mind cheating yourself out of this then you just have to find the variable that controls whether you succeeded or not, like "RADIANTHEART_KILLEDUNCLE 1" and set that to "0" before you go back to the Order.

Make sure if there's an autosave before your accident!

That is EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me on my first two attempts at the paladin stronghold! That was my first couple runs through the game, so I didn't know where to get help. Good thing you found SP sooner than I had.

Good to know that I'm not the only one who did that.

Doesn't the uncle turn out to be evil if you're good and good if you're evil? Really threw me the second time I did the game with an evil party and as soon as he turned up I slaughtered him. Got quite a surprise when I returned to the Radiant Heart and found out I'd killed the genuine article.

well... I'm a lawfull good paladin, and I find it hard to play an evil paladin of the Radiant Heart

Oh and I don't know how to change or find global variables, and I've already given up, I went through the game in the wrong order of events, so I'm going to start over, (again). Oh and... I really really wish I had more time to do whatever, it gets annoying running around and always being late for one quest or another, (in which I have to hurry up and finish it or lose it :( )

There's no time limit on 99% of the quests so it doesn't matter how long you take in completing them. Kind of unrealistic (in fact completely unrealistic) but necessary in that doing everything in the right order in a set time frame would be pretty much impossible and, also, not a lot of fun.

I remember doing the circus tent quest and finding the woman in there whose son is waiting outside. Plain forgot about the son when I emerged from the tent, had a wander around Amn, went to Spellhold, the underwater city, the Underdark, killed Bodhi, then wandered back through the Promenade one day and the poor little tyke was *still* waiting outside the tent. He'd been there for three months of game time but didn't seem any the worse for wear. ;)

Haha, but that's different, most of the real quests, (not those puny wannabe quest :p ), have time limits, Like the De'Arnise keep, and Korgans quest. They all have timers, even though little quests like saving Trademeet from the genies and such don't have any timelimits, because they are the quests people just overlook.

If the guy detects as evil, you are supposed to kill him. If he detects as anything else, let him have the girl.

If you use Detect Evil and he shows up as evil, then kill him. The alignment of the imposter is always evil.

    @ omni -
The global variables are found in the baldur.ini file, and that's in your BG2 folder on the hard drive. Open it with notepad, change the variable, and save it. Make sure you remember what you changed in case it doesn't work and you have to change it back.
