Is Faldorn from the druid grove the Faldorn from BG I? One of the mods I installed put the BGI portrait on her in conversation, but she doesn't seem to react to the party much...

She is supposed to be the very same Faldorn.

As for reactions, there are a few like that. Garrik for one doesnt act as if he knows you.

    and ajantis attacks you (!)
of course, he might be excused, seeing as you're disguised at the time. still, i'd love to have him in my team, i always use him in BG 1

Well, there you are disguised, and Garrick seems to have the attention span of an amoeba, but Faldorn really takes the cake. Jaheira - "A name that I have heard somewhere", whatever... But she does know you are a child of Bhaal (if you challenge her).

Probably thats because its been too long since you last saw her? Or because you just had a brief encounter with her in BG1 (I never bothered to take her into my party, for example).

No, but garrick not recognising us was annoying. That guy was the man...he always made it into my parties in BG1, and usually wasted everyone with wands of fire...good times. Ajantis' end was suitably tragic though. Faldorn was, I think, just kept in BG2 so they didnt have to invent a new name for a character.

I believe there's at least one more Baldur's Gate cameo in Athkatla. If you take the poisoned man to the Harper building in the docks, Xzar will accost you on the way out and ask you to look for Montaron.

Out of curiosity, where in BG2 do you encounter Ajantis? I don't think I've ever seen him, or I just don't remember specifically seeing him. Is he among the paladins that assault you upon entering the Windspear Hills or something?

There is also Coran, Safana, Quayle and Tiax at least.

Edit: Jhonka, he is one of those paladins, but you need Keldorn on your party to know he is there, and even with Keldorn, he doesn't say it all that often.

I've seen Garrick, Quayle, Tiax, Coran, Sefana, Ajantis, Faldorn, (of course, Jaheria, Minsk, Imoen, Viconia are in BG1 too), Xzar, Monteron, Kaleid (sp?)... is the Korgan in BG2 the same evil dwarf in BG1 that wants you to search for his caravan?

    what others are there?

In BG1 I actually added EVERY character and brought them to the middle town to release them. At one point i had like 20 of them there hehe.

Nope, I think korgan and kagain are different...
Well, you also see Branwen and Xan in the tutorial, guess they count, no?

Well, except from that, you don't get the halfling thief (alora, wasn't it?), the dwarven fighter-cleric Yeslick (a friend of mine swore that he'd never like a game with only 1 dwarf NPC, who happens to be CE), Eldoth and Skie, Shar-teel, and I think Quayle - I don't think he's Aerie's uncle, as the uncle has supposedly been in the circus for quite some time, not to mention had a supposedly different personality

Of course, Khalid and Dynaheir aren't exactly in the game, but they are still important for the plot.

ah, i haven't played BG1 in several years but I feel stupid forgetting Dynaheir hehe... I always had her and Branwen in my parties, though Bran tended to vanish when Yeslic popped up.

but, different forum and all.. *bows to the Godz of BG2 not to edit him*

I am pretty sure that Aerie's "uncle" Quayle is the same one from BG1, he has the same portrait, though I can't remember what he says when you right click on him (whether or not its his BG1 lines).

Wow, I must have played this game over twenty five times and never realized Faldorn was the same from BG1. Quayle, Xzar, Tiax and Montaron were the only ones I recognized (beside the obvious PC's). Can anyone write a comprehensive list where to find the others? I would probably play again to find them! God, I thought I had this game whipped but it is always pulling a fast one on me.

    Garrick?
    Coran?
    Safana?

Garrick is by the Order of the Radiant Heart. He is pulling a "Roxanne" kind of thing by trying to woo a lady for a gnome behind him who is feeding him the words. Go at night and you'll see it. it has nothing to do with the story though.

Coran and Sefana are in one of the new places after you come out of the underdark. They are in a minor side quest involving some wolfweres I believe. I never do it but they're there.

@ TheBard - Please, it a Cyrano de Bergerac thing - Roxanne was just a silly Hollywood adaptation.

For some reason, I now feel compelled to put all this NPC info together in one place. Spoilers, of course...

Out of the 25 joinable NPCs in BG1:

5 are joinable in BG2: Edwin, Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc, Viconia

3 are killed before BG2: Dynaheir, Khalid, Montaron

5 are killed during BG2: Ajantis, Faldorn, Safana, Tiax, Xzar

1 will most likely be killed during BG2: Coran

2 survive BG2, but are non-joinable: Garrick, Quayle

9 are whereabouts unknown: Alora, Branwyn (tutorial), Eldoth, Kagain, Kivan, Shar-Teel, Skie, Xan (tutorial), Yeslick.

Goes to show the rough life of adventuring: half or more of the NPCs you have info on are killed before or during BG2. A BG1 runthrough using only dysfunctional doomed characters, anyone?

Again, as has been noted many times, the dialogue in BG2 assumes that your BG1 party was Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc, and Dynaheir.

Two of the new BG2 joinable NPCs have ties to BG1: Aerie was Quayle’s adopted daughter/apprentice, while Ajantis was Keldorn’s squire.

More details on the BG1 NPCs who made it to BG2:

Ajantis (Windspear Hills): The good news is Ajantis finally became a knight of the Radiant Heart. The bad news is you are tricked into killing him by a red dragon.

Coran (Forest of Tethyr): Coran is used unwittingly by Safana to lure you into a trap set by wolfweres. If you are female, Coran is killed outright; otherwise Coran will be killed unless you are able to protect him.

Dynaheir (Irenicus’ dungeon): Apparently, Minsc and Dynaheir were adventuring with you when Irenicus captured you. Minsc tells you that Irenicus killed Dynaheir, but details aren’t given, and you never find the body.

Edwin (Shadow Thieves’ Guild): Edwin has somehow managed to insinuate himself into the Shadow Thieves, where he holds enough of a position of authority to supervise several of your quests for the guild. He plays down having known you; apparently you didn’t spend too much time together in Baldur’s Gate. Joinable NPC

Faldorn (Druid Grove): Faldorn has become a Great Druid, the leader of the Shadow Druids, and the instigator of all the animal problems plaguing Trademeet. She doesn’t acknowledge adventuring with you in Baldur’s Gate. You have to kill her to solve the Trademeet quests.

Garrick (Temple District): Garrick is busy trying to woo a Lady Knight of the Radiant Heart with the help of a gnome. Eventually the gnome marries the Lady and Garrick runs off with a bridesmaid. Garrick doesn’t recognize you at all.

Imoen (Irenicus’ dungeon): Apparently, Imoen was adventuring with you when Irenicus captured you. Strangely enough, Imoen seems to have had a similar experience at the hands of Irenicus that you did. Imoen also witnessed the killing of Khalid. Joinable NPC.

Jaheira (Irenicus’ dungeon): Apparently, Jaheira and Khalid were adventuring with you when Irenicus captured you. When you find her, she doesn’t know Khalid’s location or condition. Joinable NPC.

Khalid (Irenicus’ dungeon): Apparently, Jaheira and Khalid were adventuring with you when Irenicus captured you. Khalid’s body is found in such a bad state that resurrection is impossible, and Imoen foggily remembers Irenicus torturing or experimenting on Khalid in front of her.

Minsc (Irenicus’ dungeon): Apparently, Minsc and Dynaheir were adventuring with you when Irenicus captured you. Minsc tells you that Irenicus killed Dynaheir, but details aren’t given. Joinable NPC.

Montaron (the Docks District): Xzar and Montaron were trying to infiltrate the Harpers compound in the Docks District, perhaps for the Zhentarim, when Montaron disappeared. Xzar thinks Montaron is being held at the compound and enlists you to get him out. However, unbeknownst to you, the Harpers are using your attempt to find Montaron to destroy Xzar. After Xzar has been killed, you can find Montaron's body in the Harpers compound.

Quayle (Waukeen Promenade Circus): Quayle retired from adventuring to run a circus. When you first meet him, he is polymorphed into a slime by a disgruntled gnome. He has adopted a wingless Avariel elf as a foster daughter and apprentice; this seems to have softened his once obnoxious character.

Safana (Forest of Tethyr): Safana hatches a plot with a wolfwere to collect a bounty on you using Coran as bait, but is betrayed by her co-conspirator and killed.

Tiax (Spellhold): Tiax has apparently lost what little connection to reality he once had and has been institutionalized in Spellhold. He helps you fight against Irenicus and is killed in the battle.

Viconia (Government District): Viconia had a very rough time of it after leaving your company in Baldur’s Gate; she tells all sorts of stories about persecution at the hands of surface dwellers and the revenge she took. When you find her, she is about to be burnt at the stake for being a drow, and she recognizes you and calls out for you to save her. Joinable NPC.

Xzar (the Docks District): Xzar has apparently moved up in the world when you meet him; he has a house in the Docks District, two apprentices, and an important assignment from the Zhentarim. He was still working Montaron, and the two were trying to infiltrate the Harpers compound in the Docks District, when Montaron disappeared. Xzar thinks Montaron is being held at the compound and enlists you to get him out. However, unbeknownst to you, the Harpers are using you to destroy Xzar. In the course of this quest, you kill his apprentices and bring him a Harper assassin polymorphed into a bird, which both you and Xzar think is Montaron. The assassin kills Xzar.

@ Bion - That seems pretty accurate to me except that you can find Montaron's body after Xzar is killed.
