Hi there, just need some help with greyed out overland map locations.

Have a party of 11th level characters who are in chapter 2 (havent paid the 15000 yet), but have completed a large number of the quests in athkatla as well as trademeet + druid grove and the de'arnise keep. I avoided getting the planar sphere and windspear hills quests so that I could level up a little first.

So I went and got the quests from the respective npc's (who I had successfully avoided) which logs correctly in my journal, and gives the message "your overland map has been updated" - but when I try and go there on the overland map, the locations are greyed out and not accessible. I thought this only happened if you went to spellhold first or got the quests and then waited too long, is there some kind of timer in the game? or a switch like a particular encounter that disables these locations... or do I just have a bug?

    Thanks in advance,
    Floatey.

    I think its like this:

Before you can go to f. ex. Windspear Hills, you have to visit De'arnise first (to "build the road")

a little like you have to learn how to crawl before you can walk

    Thanks for reply.

In the second paragraph of my first post I mentioned that already have completed the de'arnise keep and the trademeet druids, so thats not the problem. :)

It was just an example of how you could do it..

Have you been to Umar Hills ?

I think you need to go there first... :)

[Edit: Does any actually know how to get to the "Small Teeth Pass", The North Forest and The Forest Of Tethir?]

Try to go to Windspear Hills or Umar Hills from Trademeet...

You have to be in the area nearest to them, before you can wander there..

Otherwise... do you have the latest patch ?

I think you have to go to the City Gates district, and walk through the main gates. That's always worked for me.

To get to the Forest of Mir etc, you have to have left the Underdark.

Doh! Thanks very much Alavin :p

Looks like you have to go through the city gates for new locations - really should have thought of that.

    Back to playing!

Small Teeth Pass, The North Forest and The Forest Of Tethir are accessible from the start if you've got The Darkest Day installed but they're so hard you're not likely to get very far with low level characters.
