[IMG] Aegisfield wants me to help find evidence.
The Tanner tells me to come back later.
Bel says the flaying technique is expert. *gross!*
But Rampuh and Rose keep saying they wont talk to me unless I have something important to say.
    What am I missing?
    TIA

[IMG] OK. In the Bridge district, I have found 3 beggars:
1)In the southwest, below the derelict house is the halfling who wants bread for his starving family.
2)Just outside of Balthis' mansion is a beggar who wants gold for his sick mother.
    3)Ramphas, who wont talk!!!!!

I have wandered from sunrise to sunset and then was attacked by vampires.
    Still no beggar with clue.
Maybe the vampires drained my intelligence ;)
but I can't find this guy.
Where the heck is the beggar with the clue??

You need to pay a visit to the shopkeep near where Rose is, just a bit to the left of her I believe.

Thanks for the replies but something is still missing.

Bel is the male shop keep to the left of Rose. He has told me that the flaying is done with precision. (Sounds like a clue to me.)

There is a woman running a stall, with only good berries, immediately to his left. She says that its not safe to be out after dark.
Neither of them have the Oak Bark, Solik or Gulil berries.

Rose and Ramphas aren't interested in speaking until I have "something important".
    Aegisfield still wants evidence.
The Tanner is out of stock.

    Question:
Is this a timed quest? If the merchants don't have the berries and bark, does this mean I have arrived too soon?
I have just completed the Slavers and Nalia's quest and received info on about 7 others.

Threaten Rampuh until he gives you exotic hide. He then seels it for 100 GP. I forget who to ask about the hide, but someone tells you its "elephant" hide. Its human. Ick

    Thats the problem.
I approach him. He has a blue circle.
I initiate conversation and he just says something like "he's dancing. No business til something important."
    Fairly cryptic.
There is no other dialogue to threaten him with.

I can pick pocket the hide, take it to Bel and he identifies it as elephant hide and keeps it. But after that, Rose and the Tanner still dont talk to me.

    Well this is very interesting.
I think my experience with Faraji(boy), Rampah and Rose was a bug.
Bug arose from the sequence of quests, not from talking to people in Bridge District

    Problem Sequence:
    Saved Hendak.
    Finished Nalia's Quest.
Returned to city through the Bridge District.

Quayle's messenger, Brus, Valen and Del all immediately approach and kept
    interrupting Aegisfield.

*Aegisfield never told me about the three witnesses.*

Just asked for evidence if I found any.

Finished Slaver quest and returned to Bridge District.
Under no circumstances could I initiate the dialogues with Rose, Bel and Rampah and Faraji.
Even pick pocketing the hide from Rampah and presenting it to Bel or Tanner didn't help.

    Successful Sequence:
    Saved Hendak.
    Finished Nalia's Quest.
Returned to city via Gate. Bypassed Bridge District completely.
Received the 4 quests mentioned above.
    Finished Slaver quest.
    Then go to Bridge district.
Aegisfield tells me about the murders and names the three witnesses.
    All proceeds perfectly from there.

What a weird bug and what an excellent arguement for archiving save games.

Thank you all for the excellent hints and spoilers!

[IMG] Oh, that REALLY burns me up! Looks like the same thing's happened to me! Does anyone out there know of a fix for this? The interrupted conversation with Aegisfield was AGES ago for me... I've kinda wound down on quests in chapter two, so I went looking for the murderer, and could get nowhere! And I understand that part of an artifact is found in the tanner's building... Oh well, I wasn't happy about it being a short bow anyway...

I hope there's nothing else important that I'm missing out on... :(

    You have my sympathies.
Apparently the problem with interrupted dialogue can occur in several places.
There was another instance in Nalia's castle, although I avoided it.

This was discussed on the Interplay board http://webboard.interplay.com:8080/~bgate
around Sept 12/13. I just went back to check but the messages for Sept. have not been archived.

Someone here will probably come up with an answer but you could post at Interplay and see if the thread is picked up agian.

    Good luck.
