I decided starting a game, any tips from experienced players? I've already made the character with 18 16 18 10 10 18 stats and single weapon style + dagger.

Load up on throwing daggers, you won't be using your fists to hit stuff until you reach level 6 or so (your fists start at 1d6 damage, not worth the risk of sending an unarmored character into melee range). Equipping a throwing dagger also gives you 2 base APR and a strength bonus to damage, so it works out.

That was already in my mind, I thought of sling at first but then I remembered you can get that +1 dagger from the guard. So Dagger is a no brainer!

I was wondering why you decided to raise Cha to 18. Other than that I'd recommend trying out the new NPCs, and enjoy having a PC scout that can just zip through BG maps and while stealthed.

If you bumrush toward the area east of the nashkel carnival, you can pick up a +2 dagger straight away as well.

If you want a decent frontliner, you can pick up a Half Orc Blackguard called Dorn fairly early. He hits like a truck.

I'm almost considering solo because that is very monk like.

I've always enjoyed a good solo, and a monk is one of the easier choices for soloing.

I've actually rolled up a dark moon monk with the intent of playing through bg1 solo.
Out of the new kit options, i think they're the best - thoguh you lose out on the lay on hands and stunning fist options, i find those to be pretty lackluster anyway. And in return, a dark moon monk gains access to blur and mirror image, as well as the detect illusion skill which is great for it's chance to dispel enemy illusion spells.

I ended up with a cozy total roll of 100 points, and i also put 18 in STR, DEX, CON and CHA - with 15 in int and 13 in wisdom.
With all the tomes from the first game, i should end up with 16 intelligence and wisdom, and 19 in all other stats.

How are you pulling off a 19 in Int?

I'm not ? i start with 15 and my end-game score will be 16 after using the tome that gives +1 int.
the 13 wisdom start will also end in my having 16 wisdom end-game, because there are 3 tomes that give +1 to wisdom in the game.

The only thing i edited was that i put 'int' instead of intelligence, so i reworded it - it properly said 16 int and wisdom right from the first post.
If you don't believe me feel free to ask tal, i'm sure he can see the edit history, not that it really matters.

anyway, to clear up any confusion, this is my character literally right after i exited candlekeep :

Apparently I'm wrong again and I misread your post, SORRY! Question, why the choice of 18 for Con? looking for 2 more to get regeneration? If not I would have given it to Int for max lore stats!

A monk will have pretty bad lore, regardless. Even at the end of the ToB you'll only have the lore bonus from your stats +40 for levelling, which will not be enough to identify much beyond the most basic stuff.

I never realised that monks didn't get hp bonuses from higher CON, for some reason I thought that the lack of bonuses above 16 only applied to mages and bards.

Unless they varied from the actual D&D rules in the EE version of the game, in 2e, the only classes that benefit from over 16 in con (ignoring regeneration available when con hits 20) are fighters, rangers, and paladins and their subclasses.
