[IMG]When I was still churning out these blogs on a regular basis I had little doubt that I'd fly by #200 pretty fast, but over the last few years things have slowed down a bit... so 200 blog entries seems quite a lot today!

This nice round number is also a good time to announce that Sorcerer's Place (the website) will be getting a moderate makeover in the near future. Since we have heaps upon heaps of still valid legacy content we can't make any huge changes without it requiring inordinate amounts of tedious, manual labour. However, @catbert has come up with a clever way that will allow us to retain the old content more or less intact, but still enable us to make a number of vital updates to the site's code and back-end.

I'm going to leave the details purposefully vague for the time being since (if everything goes according to plan) you'll be seeing the updated layout first-hand soon. I will mention the vastly improved navigation, however. While the logic behind the somewhat unorthodox two-pane cross-page navigation that we've been using all these years quickly became clear to most of our visitors, some have struggled with it. And some also complained, usually vocally. I'm confident that the new navigation will be a marked improvement with, hopefully, no cause for complaints!

While a redesign of the site has been on the to-do for a number of years, it recently became a necessity. This is due to the latest version of our forum software requiring the version of PHP installed on our server to be higher than what our old site layout's code would run on properly. So before we can upgrade to Xenforo 2 and take advantage of the many improvements there, we need to have the updated site layout in place. After that is done and the biggest kinks ironed out, the forum upgrade will be next. But that's a story for another SPH, another week...

    P. S.

Since my last blog entry @Beren has also finished his epic Pillars of Eternity walkthrough, which I'm shamelessly plugging, so make sure not to miss it if you're playing the game or intend to before the sequel is out!

Also, if you'd like to hear a long-time community member's opinion on Pillars of Eternity, I heartily recommend reading @Keneth 's detailed review of Pillars of Eternity.
