ANybody want to give me tips to kill the demi/lich?

Didn't do this quest first time round so I'm trying it out now. The liches are no problem but once he turns ito a demi . . . man, nothing touches him.
I'm playing a fighter mage. My cunning plan was to use the spell immunity spell, which works a trick avoiding being imprisoned for it's duration but doesn't stop the guy from being untouchable. It kind of works as an impasse right now. I corner him with the fighter mage. He repeatedly whacks the FM with imprisonment, all my other mages hit him with breach, dispell magic etc, the fighter mage hits him with axe of thunderbolts, magic swords, magic katana's but nothing injures the guy. The spell immunity wears off and bingo, game over, no credits remaining.

Somebody's killed him? HOw did you do it? Does it take a plus 5 weapon or something to actually injure him?

    I'd love to know.

He can be killed. There are a few tricks to it - once youve done it, its not quite so scary.

Here are a couple of tips.

    1) You need a +4 weapon or above to hit him. If taking him on early in the game, the +4 staff that the adventuers mart sells may be your only option.
    2) imprisonment is avoidable. Potions of magic protection & scrolls of magic protection will protect you from his imprisonment power. YOu can buy these at various shops - they are limited so make them count.
    3) Summoning monsters to distract him is a good way to go. He will imprison them first
    4) the more fighter characters you have with +4 weapons or above, the faster you will kill him. It may pay to take him on a little later in the game (ie chapter 6) if you are struggling.
    5) Ive killed him several times using the above tactics. He has AWESOME treasure so its well worth it.

    Have fun..

If I'm not mistaken, you can be really cheesy and use Protection from Undead scrolls. If you've already done the Twisted Rune quest, the Staff of the Magi will take him out too (not to mention protect your fighter/mage by using the Spell Trap function).

hm, i never got lucky with the staff of the magi. but if you don´t care for your reputation you might transform yourself into the scavenger (or what was he called like?) and then simply take him out in melee. you just have to consider the right moment. if you transform too late you start chopping on your mates (leaving them outdoors is best anyway) when the demi is gone or you go down by yourself, because there´s no more blood to suck and afaik the transformation needs to kill in order to stay healthy. so there´s a little fine tuning needed, but in the end this worked best on the two demi-liches you meet in the game. though one might consider it cheating but for me it was the best way to put this transformation option you have after visiting the sanctuary to some use...

If no weapons hurt him, just chuck melf's minute meteors. You're a fighter mage right? So for sure these are in your arsenal. IIRC, NOTHING is immune to melf's minute meteors.

    A few other methods:

-Summon Efreeti; the efreeti may be able to get hits if the Demi-lich is casting Imprisonment on something else.

-A shapeshifter can change into a greater werewolf at 13th level. A greater werewolf's claws are considered +4 weapons

-A totemic druid can summon spirit animals. (which I believe should be +5 weapons)

    -Traps work.

    -Gesen's bow.

-Berserker rage makes the berserker immune to imprisonment.

    -Ring o' the Ram.

Just cast spell immunity: abjuration on your fighter/mage, equip with a +4 weapon or better (or cast Melf's mighty meteors - act as +5 weapons I think...) and have that guy hammer away at him close up while any other characters can stand at the back in a line hurling either Melf's meteors (if they are a mage) or using +4 or better slings, bows and crossbows.

Optionally, if you have one or more thieves in party, before opening tombs plant many traps in the far bottom left corner, have one character equipped with the Ring of the Ram at the opposite corner (top right), kill the Lich normally and then blast the Demilich that appears with the Ram Ring into the traps. Finish him off with above procedure.

    Fyernine,

As a fighter mage should be relatively easy.

Cast spell immunity abjuration or use a protection from undead/magic scroll. Then use melf's meteors or the high level ability energy blades.

    Have fun with it!

    He, he, he...
The demilich was the only *thing* in the game my super-monk couldn't kill by himself. And that is because i didn't know how to get the Gauntlets Of Crushing (+4). Since I wanted to kill him (or it, whatever) using only my monk, my only option was the Slayer (Chapter 6 - immune to Imprisonment, and I guess he can hit pretty much anything).

My paladin bought a few protection for magic scrolls. I used him and another fighter (I think it was upgraded Anomen). Using his mighty paladin weapon and Anomen the Crom Feyr the creature didn't last very long.
