Jea, I stick to Ironworks too. The walkthrough is sometimes incorrect, thought.

 

Very sad imho, particularly for a DISCUSSION forum. No, unfortunately I couldn't find any reasons behind this unwritten rule within the search facility.

I did note that you stated in one thread that you wasn't scared of competition. I take it you wish to revoke that comment?

Unfortunately without your written list as a bible it's going to be pretty difficult to know what's "worth mentioning" and what's not. As you evidently don't like this kind of discussion on your discussion boards you may be as wise to pull all posts of this nature from the off in future. Or should we take it that if it's not in your links page that it will be removed as a matter of course?

If you have suffered plaigirism from another site then I feel for you, I truly do. But please don't take a snot nosed brat type attitude with me because you've had arguments with another site that I couldn't possibly be aware of. You also sent the original search off in the wrong direction.

You are so correct, this was a needless confrontation. I was completely happy to read Taluntains objections regarding the mentioning of another site. I am totally against plagiarism in all its forms. Had I been directed to the explanatory thread in a civil, adult manner then this matter would have ended there.

Unfortunately when I am confronted with the provocative comment "read it and weep" (the kind of comment I would expect from a 12 year old snot nosed brat) then I will retaliate. There was never any cause (particularly from a moderator) to use such an aggresive tone to someone posing a legitimate question.

I've seen 5 year olds brush off worse insults with a laugh. Try again. You say you don't care, then as Kit asks, why are you still here? You obviously feel the need to expound your foolishness, but don't you realize that no one cares? lol!! It's simpy amusing for us all to keep encouraging you... BBB, If you can understand that people are hurt by plagiarism, then certainly you can understand why Tal has little patience for the subject. As the owner/creator of this site, (not simply moderator) he has every right to be offended by links to the thief. He DID direct you to the reasons why, and continued on to direct you to some links that he thinks are worthwhile. Isn't that what the post was about? No one suggested you use it as a bible, and you are welcome to add your own opinions.

1: Self-proclaimed mouthpiece- Absolutely not. Though neither my posting rate, nor my devotion can garner me the status of moderator (though in this case, what respect would that grant?), I would be as bold as to say that I have earned a reputation here for repudiating unnecessary attacks to this board. (see above posts by 2 moderators, and I'm sure BTA is just laggin'. )

2: Boss- If you feel you do not need this board, then I do not expect a reply. That would mean you are intrigued or interested in defending yourself and your position here. Otherwise, we shall grieve our loss over time.

3: Self-pleasing- I have every intention of pleasing myself. Unfortunately I am busy writing this damnedable reply.

The basis of this is very simple: Everyone here wants a collective community that can function without confrontation. I do not wish, as it has been my past inclination to do, to simply herein harass Bert. To do so would be unjust and rather I'd like to look at it, if at all possible, from an objective point of view. (*turns to crowd) Sorry to disappoint, but he does make a few points I strongly believe in, and thus must afford him at least a rational argument.

Unfortunately for the moderators of this board and the intellectual community herein, unnecessary confrontation has fraught many topics, compounded further by misunderstandings of perspective or position. As every person coming to these boards is most likely of above-average intellect, there is an unfortunate risk for competing egos. You, sir Bert, have provided a great deleterious source to this board by confronting those who ever-so-generously devote themselves to providing the board you don't need or don't care about. Taluntain has on repeated occasion proven himself to be a just and very nice moderator, with these boards a testament to his, and others', work. I do not begrudge them then the power that they are provided for their work. They have every right to regulate as they see fit, and despite anyone's defiant or zealous diminishing remarks, will continue to thrive in a great community. The individual, however, as you are yourself, do not have a right to be here. It is a priviledge they often thanklessly provide.

Do not expect understanding when you attack them in spite of this basis in regards to posting competition. Posting competing boards has oft been a bad touch, as it very much implies that the current are not sufficient. Whether true or not, (in this case most certainly not) such a comment is an affront to those who work diligently to maintain this board. And yet, Tal, to encourage the prosperity and overall beneficial ambience of this community allows the posting of any board with the exception of Ironworks. Such a wish should be respected, and the reason quite clear, if not historically researchable.

Now, in accordance with Rousseau's Social Contract, such a confrontation as this is both irrational and solely negative, as it is an example of an individual or individuals harming the community of which they are a part. So then, the best form for both parties is to remove the facade that either side is exclusively correct or righteous and admit fervently that this confrontation stemmed from a misunderstanding of connotation and a resettling of feelings in regard to something that clearly is a strong subject with our fair Tal.

I say, for now, that Bert has every right to voice his opinion here upon these boards. This is, afterall, or at least should be, an open forum for discussion. I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. However, Bert, you must surely realize that a belligerant tone will not be well received, no matter how much you feel it justified. You, sir, are a guest here, a member of a growing populace, and if you wish to be heard, I suggest you make an attempt to resolve matters in a less offensive way. Showing respect is advisable herein as to not aggravate the people who spend their time to maintain this community. In concordance, Taluntain, as owner and operator has every right to expel you without providing any reason as to why, though the reasons are somewhat apparent. If such does happen, I'm sorry Bert, but you picked a fight with someone who has infinitely more power here than you. You cannot take the path of the zealous martyr here, you were wrong to excite this non-sensical argument which should rightfully have been settled within the first inklings of misconception.

Please excuse my apparent dues ex machina, I simply wish to put forth my observations. As I am clearly a simple sheep, I shall return to my grazing... FEAR THE SHEEP, THEY COME EN MASS AND WITH ONLY THE WARNING OF SUPERSONIC BLEATING!
