[IMG] Completely spaced out the fact I can't accept the guildhall *and* work for Bodhi. :grr: All that progress lost! :wail: Evil isn't all it's cracked up to be. Just had to get this off my chest.

Really? My latest character is a T/F and I acquired the Guild, and I could still accept Bodhis help. It's possible that I'll lose the guild when I do accept I guess.

You must first aquire the guildhall. When you start working for Bodhi, shadow thieves turn hostile.

If you're thief you cannot work with Bodhi but with Ease of Use installed you can get thief guildhall and work with Bodhi as other class, still don't work this way if your PC is thief.

Wow, that's really cool. I never knew that.

I'm interested (see my "solo Monk" thread) because I'll probably fight less bloodsuckers siding with her.

My assassin PC, Jaheira, Minsc, Anomen and Korgan trotted through the hoops set by Bloodscalp (specifically to get Edwin) and killed Maevar. I accepted to oversee the now vacant guildhall. I hurried my butt through rescuing Haer'Dalis and Korgan starts b*tching about getting his frigging book. I hop over to the cematary, Edwin gives his schpeel and Bodhi approaches. She says something about disciplining Valen, then rambles on about how 'it isn't good at all'. She refuses her offer and slinks away.

Because I agreed to take over Maevar's shoes, I can't work with Bodhi and get those nifty items. I do have a save before I talked with Bloodscalp, but man! Five game days wasted! My game's different because I have that Baldurdash fixpack installed to prevent the 'so-and-so appears busy' bug.

I'm bummed I wasted all that effort for nothing. :(

Since we're on the subject of spoiling, what makes siding with Bodhi better?

Mainly flavor stuff. You get the satisfaction of whacking those obnoxious Shadow Thieves. You get to hear something of her side of the story (even if a lot of it is lies).

I think you can still get the Amulet of Power and the Ring of Protection +2 if you side with Bodhi.

You still get the amulet and ring when you kill Aran Linveil (right?). If you're evil you'd prefer siding Bodhi, much better deal... 15000 golds (same as shadow thief...if you know they discount).

    As I SAID.......

If your PC is THIEF class...you CAN NOT side with Bodhi whether you have the guild or not. got it?

BECAUSE you are considered as one of the shadow thieves and Bodhi just hates her rival guild, so she won't help any other thief.

@Ruin: I certainly sided with Bodhi with a Swashbuckler/Fighter (I can't remeber if I had already dualled or not) and I don't use the stronghold element of ease of use (and when I was playing this character I had no mods installed).

@Kuemper: it makes sense RPwise, you won't lose any item whatever happens (the mace is still available, Aran Linvail gives you the ring and amulet). Think about it, shadow thieves is not the dumb goody choice: they are assassins, torturers and the most powerful crime organization in Amn!

    MINOR SPOILER

When you side with Bodhi you get to kill the shadow thieves and then the vampires when you come back from the Underdark. Eventually you end up doing more "good" that way.
Siding with Bodhi is a temporary alliance, which is only justified by the PC's ultimate objective: either rescuing Imoen or revenge.
If you side with the shadow thieves you can always kill them after you got rid of Bodhi (they cheated you and used you that's good reasons to kill them if you're evil).

BUT what a GOOD PC will do? I always ally with Thieves yes they are vile and evil and corrupted BUT they are NOT undead bloodsuckers! And good NPCs in the party really DON'T want to ally with Bodhi! She is too creepy and can not be trusted. Yoshimo says that Gealen Bayle is a man of his word. BUT then, even Yoshimo can NOT be trusted so... :D

@Kuemper: is this the throwing axe+2 that returns to the wielder? If so I think I got it in my last run through (I sided with the shadow thieves).

@Silverstar: it's a dilemma, who are you going to trust? Agreed the thieves are the lesser evil, but they are not to be trusted either. A good party would find it easier to side with them (although one can imagine a shady do-gooder siding with Bodhi to gain inside information and eventually get rid of her, a path a paladin wouldn't tread but one that a stalker -favoured enemy vampire, of course- might consider -remember Blade II ;) ).
When you're playing an evil party you really have a choice here since both organizations can be considered as evil (one is clearly creepy and supernatural) so perhaps you're not the trusting type and prefer to side with the thieves (after all you're one of them, you know their methods, how they function) rather than siding with the leeches (if you're not a high level cleric you're not going to blast them into oblivion so easily!)

Hmm...I'am not sure about multiclass. Dualclass works from my experience. Get the guildhall when you were thief than side with Bodhi after dualclassing.

If you don't have the guildhall Bodhi might deal with your thief PC.....now I'm getting confused.

Edit : waiiiiiit...do the dualclass or multiclass work as I mentioned? Because I just realised that I was using ease of use that time.

@Caradhras - It's a +3 returning axe you get when you attack Mook for the shipment.

Thanks to the person who corrected my mistake with 'hate'. I knew it looked weird for some reason.

You don't get that axe if you side with Thieves, sure, but you don't get the Mace of Disruption if you side with Bodhi.
So, go ahead, side with Bodhi, and ask yourself the question next time you fight liches: why did I do it?

    spoiler:

Even an evil char shouldn't side with Bodhi. Thieves are evil enough, and you're less their suckers than Bodhi & Irenicus suckers if you chose the vampires.

kuemper: the reason you cannot side with Bodhi is NOT because you are running Mae'Var's guild, but because you are a single-class thief.

If you were any other class or indeed a multi/dual classed thief, then you could join with Bodhi, EVEN IF you already had Mae'Var's guild (though you would lose the guild as soon as you accepted Bodhi).

    Clear?

You get less xp with Bodhi though, if that's important to you.
