I've only tried a Mage. Slaughtered Saravok pretty fast so I would like to know what other classes could slaughter them.

I really want to get round to soloing other classes, such as mage, but i've only ever solo'd a f/t.

I dont feel confident early on in the game that id manage to even get to the second chapter with just a mage, as slings aren't exactly acurate early on and melee is out of the question.
I really want to solo a Cleric too.

I tried a fighter/mage a while ago and that went pretty well.

Human - Illusionist with the Ring of Wizardry found under the tree at Friendly Arm Inn makes the beginning smooth as silk. And when you get level three spells Fireball is the only option which makes the remaining game as easy as 1+1.

Although, a regular fighter is also alot of fun.
But sometimes or most times actually it is harder than with a mage. But if you just pick up the free ankheg armor early and there are also two "free" Rings of Prot" you can get early. But it´s when you start to meet a couple of mages with some archers/fighters things get difficult.

So if I wanna go easy one day I play mage, if I want alittle more action I play Fighter. A singleclass thief can be fun, but pretty difficult since it takes a while before you get the boots of speed. So in short, depending on my mood I play different classes, no absolute favorite.

I soloed both F/T and a ranger. It's much easier to solo with a F/T, but I think ranger is funnier anyway...

I wanna try a Invoker alone one day... I'd export her from Level seven, of course. ;)

Playing with mages from the begining is hard. Magic missles and running, that how you get better in those conditions. Which is a pain in the ass.

Soloing is supposed to be hard :D

Anyways, back on topic. I've just tried the Ranger/Cleric, wasn't really that impressed. People say he's so powerful and all.

I played F/M/T. I don't like sleeping all the time, so the single mage would not fit to me, thief is neccessary for the traps in Durlag's tower, and the fighter for the most of the battles. This is a quite balanced character.
Don't forget the backstab as well!

R/C is also a good choice. You can early get the best hammer in the game, and you can also get easily a shiled, ankheg plate, so the R/C is equiped early!

How in the world do you solo a mage? If you're walking along and have the unfortunate occurance of running into 3 or 4 kobald archers, and you've got major problems. I assume that if you ever got interrupted while traveling between areas, you're instant toast. I think the battle against Mulahey would be really, really tough too. Not so much because of him, but the dozen or so skeletons and kobolds that would run around the corner. I have never tried soloing a mage, and I do not know if I would be successful. What was your battle plan against Sarevok?

Haven't tried that yet, but my idea will be a gnome mc thief/mage. ot cleric/illusionnist.
I think i will be able to steal, charm and put everybody to sleep befor getting to the final chp.
I actually manage to charm the whole glamming dist compound to get Duke Eltan... Don't know if it will work in the expansion, never tried to charm a werwolfs...
