Dungeon-Be-Gone is only good for people who've played through the game several times, and are sick of trapsing through the Irenicus dungeon. Installing it cuts down on the story quite a bit, but if you've played it so many times you have the story memorized anyway, this is moot. For this reason, I don't recommend it for new players, but for vets it's a must.

Item Upgrade rules. You shouldn't have too much trouble forging the items you want. The prices are steep, but that's a good thing because the end results in very powerful items. Such power shouldn't be gotten easily.

Kelsey is also a good one. I love sorcerers, and he just looks cool. His voice sounds a little too fake, but you get past it.

Freedom's Reign and Reign of Virtue add some interesting items too the game, though quite a few are overpowered. You can just sell or drop those; I do.

These are usually what I play with.

D.R. – This is way off-topic, but just to clear up your question, Grandalf is referring to this (SoA) and this (ToB). You try to play the whole game through without dying. I made it to Chapter 5. But this has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

Lone Wolf keeps promising to rebalance and bugfix the FW item pack but then disappears for months at a time. So it's kind of a touchy thing.

I don't exactly get why people want to ruin the reputation of Imoen's Romance ... and in such an unabashed way too. I mean common, "I'm only showing a one sided view here; the only side that matters"? (from the other thread - Merlance)

It seems to me that people who bash it haven't actually played it, but have only opened it up in Infinity Explorer and looked around. Those "bad options"? I didn't even encounter them. There's the option to do them, but if you don't want to, if you find that stuff sick, then DON'T DO BAD STUFF TO IMOEN! Then they'll stay out of the way, they won't bother you. Simple as that.

The Imoen Romance has depth in the bucketloads. The quality times you can spend with her, "why does your voice change when you cast spells", her teasing you about being a virgin if you don't spend the night with Phaere in the Drow City, the dream sequences ... I guess it's a sad fact that some people have to be so judgemental they just shout "INCEST! RAPE! THIS MOD SHOULD BE BURNED!" instead of actually playing it beforehand. (And for the incest people, Imoen isn't really your sister.)

Download Imoen's Romance and just try PLAYING it. If you're going to be offended by a couple of adult themes like mild sexual references and the discussion of rape (note: you can never actually rape Imoen in the mod), then what are you doing playing Baldur's Gate II anyway? It's damn well worth playing.

I played through the whole Imoen romance and liked it.

People get all worked up about the rape issue, yet there's no actual rape described. Also, that Bhaal fellow, he's kind of a bad guy, isn't he? I'm sure raping girls is not above him (how were all those childs of Bhaal concieved anyway?) Fits the evil PC, I think. Or somehow it's okay to murder for money, commit genocide, spread evil everywhere, blackmail, cheat betray, kill, kill and kill again. But when a rape is mentionned, every one turns into a saint. Come on, it's just a game.

Good dialogue, jokes, npc interactions, flirts, that's a good romance in my book.

More on topic: Chloe mod so far is okay. Tashia is good.

Well, as I said in a previous post, I just love this mod. It has more interactions and fun than any other mod out there (from my point of view), and you actually feel like there's some personality into that girl.

Anyway, I have an honest question about the Tashia mod: Why does everybody praise this mod so ? I've played it through and found it incredibly bland and boring. Apart from a couple witty comments, I didn't find her romance all that wonderful. As a sorceress, she does wonders in a group, but personality-wise, I feel she's a bit boring. The Minsc banters, especially, make me feel like she's dim-witted or something.

Oh well, since everybody's bashing everything, I guess I just had to point that out :D

i like the ease of use mods - lets me take cernd and turn him into the ultimate fighting machine! (perhaps overpowered, but hey, being a werewolf is his specialty)

since i like thieves, i'm playing the expanded thief stronghold and thief rebalancing mods at the moment - recommended if you play a thief character - the final battle with mae'var is an absolute hell of a fight

the tashia mod is also quite good - but i haven't played very far yet

as for imoen - heaps of interaction, and gives a good reason for rescuing the lass in the first place (i think i'd be more pissed off if someone like viconia got abducted - no clerics in the party!)

once you get her back, without the mod, she's just another expendable NPC in the party (she acts like nothing happened, all the torture that irenicus put her through - magically forgotten) - the mod makes her indispensable - you see how traumatised she is and a need for including her in the party (even when you've already got very capable spell flingers in edwin and tashia) and helping her fight her demons

as for the bad dialogue choices you can choose - there are also heaps of good ones, and some hilarious ones

that's what they're there for - so you can make a choice

isn't it all about role-play in the end?

Having the "evil option" as part of the game, to a certain, limited degree, is one thing. But to expand it to the point of including all sorts of vileness and perversion (as in some of the Imoen romance options, plus some of the other evil things some people complain they can't do), well, that's just plain sick.

You have the constitutional right to eat your own excrement, you know; but I wouldn't recommend it, nor would I be willing to kill or die for your right to do so, either.

"Censorship" is the first cry of the person who knows he has no legitimate defense against a valid criticism....

so are most of the things you can do in the game
    like mass slaughter for instance
and what goes on in the drow city is pretty bad

regardless, the evil dialogue lines don't take you anywhere anyway - imoen either ignores you, leaves or squashes you

I'm looking more into new places, items, enemies, NPC's, quests and that kind of stuff. Not so into all kind of cheat mods and easy-of-use stuff. I was almost going to download that Darkest Day mod. Thanks fo warning. No one has mentioned this Shadows over Soubar I'm going to download. Is that so bad, or has anyone even tried it?

SoS will make your character ridiculously overpowered. There's an unrealistic amount of both xp and +5 items.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan to retire the character after playing the mod.
