Fallen paladins

Darn. I play with a paladin but my wizard(Xan) cast a fireball and killed some commoners. My reputation went down from 20 to 7 and my PC became a fallen paladin. I donated to the churches to rise up my RP but he is still a fallen paladin. Is there any way to restore his clss?

 

Exit. Reload.
Thats the only way. Once a Ranger or a Paladin falls he becomes just a fighter who levels up slowly. There is no way he is going to get back to being a Paladin once he has fallen.

 

sorry to revive an old topic, but how Xan could cast Fireball he's an enchenter

 

Maybe he was using the necklace of missiles

 

Scroll or wand suffices.

 

I think he just went on a killing-spree and slayed many people, just to blame it on Xan.

Actually, I think he meant Xzar. A lot of people use to mix up those two.

 

Nope, it was Xan using a Fireball scroll. But that's not the point... and your're

 

If you take him to BG2 you may restore his class...

 

I'm in a similar predicament, my 'custom' cleric/ranger Demonaz lost his rep when Edwin ended up killing the cook in the mines, by accident of course (fireball makes big boom), anyway... I didn't see it until I had exited the mine and had no save that predated the murder... now... I have no problem cheating to restore his ranger-hood... I opened up gate-keeper and checked out his character sheet and noticed that his class was changed to fighter/cleric - and I switched it back to ranger/cleric...

you guys think that willr estore him back to his former glory?

(p.s - +5 points if anyone recognizes where I got Demonaz's name from...)

No / you tell us. I'm not sure if it checks rep for falling like it does for NPCs leaving (only when it changes), but if it checks all the time or at least on game load, you'll fall again right away when you load it up if you haven't gotten your rep back up before GKing. If it does behave the same, and your rep is low enough, you may even find yourself in the ironic situation of doing a good deed and becoming Fallen for your trouble.

And then, of course, there's always the possibility that simply changing the class won't do squat. But you tell us. Does it work?

Re: Cheating -
If you're playing vanilla BG1, you're out of luck. But if you're playing Tutu, it'll have the expanded ACTION.IDS file which will include the command you need. Specifically...

Of course, even if you're playing vanilla BG1, if you have BG2 (or Shadowkeeper, which is dowloadable from this site), you can try sticking the ACTION.IDS that they have into your BG1 override and try the cheat, but I doubt it would work. Nonetheless worth a shot if nothing else works.

 

I would try to set him as a lower level (but keep the same XP) and set him back to ranger/cleric. That way the levelup fixes "wrong" numbers etc when you hit the levelup button. Often just switching from class 1 to class 2 isnt enough to actually fix the trouble. if hes level 3 ranger and level 3 cleric, id set them to either 1 or 2, so when you enter the game you atuomatically get the levelup icon.

 

Thanks for the replies guys - after simply switching him back (my rep was raised by donating before I changed his class back) I didn't see much change, he was back to ranger/cleric, but I have no way of proving whether or not it really worked... anyway... it doesn't matter, as shortly there-after I got my rear up and installed BGT/BP and been playing that...
