I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but the last few times I've had characters level up they only gain 3 hp. Even on characters which have constitution hp bonus that should exceed 3 hp. Anyone aware of this prob and know how to fix it ? Thanks

Edit: I'm on 'normal' difficulty setting and have tried sliding the setting around but it has no effect.

When you reach high enough levels, then you will never gain more than 3 hp. Even if you were to have 25 CON, you would still gain just the three.

Rolling for hp is only done at lower levels, It ain't a bug, it's the way it is i'm afraid.

Hmm, but my characters are only lvls 10 to 12, does that rule kick in that early?

Aye, i think so. Most of the rolling is done in BGI, all the way from level 1 to about 7-8. When you start playing BGII, a newly created character automatically rolls for hp when you start a new game.

Most classes only roll for the first 9 levels. Rogues, though, seem to roll for the first 10. After that, all HP gains are fixed: 1 for a wizard, 2 for rogues and clerics, 3 for fighters. Once again, 3E makes much more sense here, with rolls every level.

It kicks in at Level 9 for warriors and priests, and at Level 10 for rogues and wizards. Warriors get +3HP/level, priests and rogues get +2HP/level, and wizards get a whopping +1HP/level.

    EDIT: Typo.

It just makes sure that high level characters can not become living gods with ridiculously high HPs, like 300+ HP like they tend to be in 3E rules...Even the highest level archmage still has very few HP which makes sense to me...IMHO ofcourse so you are free to disagree, it is pure AD&D Second Edition rule! (which I even dare to believe is better than 3E in some aspects.)
