Is there a better item editor than IEEP? I need a more advanced/better one in order to help make my Moonblade idea work. See the topic and post any suggestions or advice please!

Don't know of any better ones to be honest. But teambg do have some excellent tutorials on how to make items if this helps.

Thanks Bard. It is just that my idea is very complex and it seems it won't be perfect. I do still want to know if it is possible to mod the game so that Gorion gives you the Moonblade with some explanation before you leave Candlekeep and see him die.

Then you should create a cutscene I think. Don't know how you do it then...

There is a tutorial on the teambg site specifically about cutscenes which might help a bit. It does seem pretty detailed. If not, you might be able to contact someone through there that can help tou.

Once again Bard I find myself in your debt. Thank you for this piece of information, let's see what becomes of it!

Edit: Just looked at the cutscene thing and it went straight over my head. I'm gonna have to get help!

I've been looking at the game with InfExp. The relevant cutscene(s) you would want to edit would be CH1CUT01...CH1CUT04. The dialogs are held in the GORION dialog script - when you say I'm ready to go it starts running CH1CUT01.

    OPTION A (CH1CUT04)
There is a line Kill("Gorion"). Now the two simple options would be to 1) add some commands to drop your moonblade here with Gorion or 2) change Gorion so he is carrying your moonblade and drops it automatically. When you discover Gorion you could find he is carrying the moonblade with a note that he didn't have time to give you.

    OPTION B (DIALOG)
Append your required dialog that you want to see Gorion give into the GORION dialog and add some script to give you char the item. or have Gorion give the speach but be ambushed before he gives it to you so you ahve to go find his body for the moonblade.

I can appreciate these might not be ideal solutions but they might give you some starting points and show that the scripts aren't so daunting as first appear. If you can mod items then you can make the changes.

    Good luck.

Thank you yet again Bard. The only problem I seem to be facing now is what program to use to edit the dialogue. I have InfExp but that only seems to show you the text. Is there another program that would allow me to make the changes?

Try IEEP or IDU. Both available from TeamBG, these will allow you to modify the dialogs and items and you should find some other tool s there you can use.

    TeamBG

    Good luck!!

After all the advice nd help you've given you deserve to try out the Moonblade addon when it's done. That's if you want to of course.

Of course, it sounds cool. I'm going to play around with some scripting later on and see how it all works properly. If you get stuck again then give me a shout and I'll try to help.

After getting IDU, I've actually altered the dialogue slightly and it works just fine. I made it so that when you speak to Gorion first time, it is a different text to normal, and the original text is when you talk to him a second time. So it works well, you get given it with an explanation. I've also toyed with Tethtoril and Ulraunt and made them look a bit more like their pictures in the BG Game Manual.

I'd also like to thank the Administrators for the patience they've shown in not warning me sooner, I posted far too many topics about this and once again I apologise. I perhaps deserved to be warned on the second topic instead of the fourth.
