    I recently read a lot of topics (mostly for fun) and I often see users who call this game too easy...so do all of you really mean it?!?! My characters keep dying all the time, I have to reload really often...this games is the hardest I´ve ever played. BGI: that was an "easy" game (nevertheless a lot of fun), but BGII??

    And if I read about people finsihing this game solo I really can´t believe it...I tried to finish BGI solo, and had to give up.. This does not mean that I don´t believe you but what do I do wrong in the second part? Wrong party?
    Me (gnome Fighter/illsuionist)
    Yoshimo
    Minsk
    Jaheira
    Nalia
    Amoen

    Any suggestions welcome

    There is nothing wrong with you party. You should be able to advance in the game with them.

    About the "it's soooo easy" comments. Ignore them.
    You don't know who:
    * is lying :(
    * has played through the game 50 times :cool:
    * cheats :(
    * is just a super RPGer ;)

    The big difference between BG1 and BG2 is that you are now required to develop and implement tactics.

    A typical BG1 battle went:
    1. Pepper the enemy with arrows and spells from a distance
    2. Engage the survivors with tanks when the closed ranks.

    This won't work in BG2. You need to learn how to combine gear, spells, and abilities in ways that are tailored to your enemy and environment.

    [IMG] You learn the game. You know the enemies you encounter on different quests and have good tactics to defeat them.
    A veteran BG2 player can finish the game "easily", but that does not mean that the game is basically easy.

    After my latest soloing of BG2 I'm convinced that any character class can solo BG2.

    I suppose when you just start, it's kinda hard but many people already played BG1 and ToSC and BG2 for several times and know how to handle fight, what tactics you should use etc. and then it becomes too easy. There are also powergamers with a super-multiplayer party, and then off course the game is too easy but then it's there fault. Be happy that the game isn't oo easy for then it ain't that much fun anymore.

    I've never said the game is too easy, although I've been accused of it. Certian encounters that may seem hard to others may seem easy to me, but alot of that has more to do with years of P'n'P experience than with experience with BGI. (It helps to know liches are un-dead, stuff like that)

    I had to tackle the trolls in the basement 6 times before I hit on the right strat to beat em with a lvl 9-10 party. Thats not easy. It does get a little easier as you go along though, and learn how better to use the abilities of your NPC's.

    Of course it's easy when you've played it ten times :) any rpg would be.

    I am at this moment playing through the game with a solo shapeshifter on insane level.
    It gets pretty difficult in places but nothing too impossible (got past that vamp on second try). I used to die all the time in BG1 and used to find it realy dificult.
    Why am i so good at it now?
    Is it because i am naturally brilliant at RPGs?
    Is it because i have a lot of luck?
    Is it because i cheat?
    Is it because i am an arrogant lying b*****d?? :D

    No, it's actualy because i ave played the game so many damn times that it is becoming unhealthy. I haven't been in the sunlight for two years now. They sent out adverts for me but now the government presumes me to be dead.

    Some people have a small natural ability for it (me, tea boy, sir singalot, Nobleman) but that hardly counts for anything.
    Whats the secret formula???

    practice :D :D :D

    I won't explain much here.

    BG2 is all but an easy game. Even for me after BG1, IWD and PT which I finished before.

    New spells, new abilities, new classes, new powerful enemies...

    No way, man. It is damn hard at some places. Ask those people who say "it is easy" how many times they reloaded while dealt Kangaxx or Dragons. Ask them how many times they reloaded in Firkraag's lair. Ask them how many times they died in the game actually. And yet they say - it's easy.

    I wonder what do they expect to be hard then?

    It helps beeing a jedi :)

    A trick is magical items:

    If I played Your team I would find some strenght enhancers. I'll not spoil Your fun so here is a HALFWAY SPOILER, speak to boy in government district go to Umar hills and pick up Valygar. His quest is great.

    Ribald sells a Girdle of strengh(adventurer's mart)If You play with bonus merchants You can buy a halberd too.

    I would also find some nice Bows, like the one the slavers use. Also have someone use a crossbow. Lots of nice bolts around just waiting to be used.

    Personally I use potions a lot. I am the old school. Hate to reload.

    Nobleman, you forgot that nice ring you can steal from Ribald. If you invested points in thievery of course... ;)

    Also, what about that nice girdle in Circus Tent? Wolfweres are hard there? Not for us F/M/Ts ;)

    You guys forgot one...

    are the people posting about XXXXX being easy sitting with walkthroughs in their laps?
    "Now when you turn the bend cast a few fireballs into the darkness to weaken XXXXXX before they see you... Be sure your fighters are equiped with +2 weapons or better... cast chaotic commands on your frontline to protect your party from the confusion spells..." Anyone would find it easy if they're having their hand held like that.

    And to all Your guys around: Maincharacter F/M/T is average difficulty.
