Yeah, that's right, Anomen kicks much bootay. Just thought I'd let y'all know, seeing as Archer14 seems to have a complex about him.

On a related topic, so does Nalia. Kick bootie, that is.

Who's with me on this? I'm thinking on starting a Anomen/Nalia boosters club. ;)

Well, Anomen makes it into almost all of my parties. Sure, he's a dork, but that has rarely stopped anyone from being successful before. I've had Nalia as a permanent party member before as well, though I prefer Imoen. Too bad Nalia's sound bites are so ridiculous. Her actual dialogues and story are pretty good.

True, true. Anomen IS good. He was a most valuable addition to my party. And that rag to gag him with wasn't so expensive so overall, I have no complaints. :D

Note the 'WAS' in the sentence above. Why? did he finally got on your nerves?
Well, even though I hate Anomen he did turn up in my party sometimes... like a bad penny.

No, I meant in the sense that he was added to my party at the beginning of BG2 and stayed with me to as far in ToB as I've gotten. ;)

And also that I haven't played the game for some time, so I was speaking in past tense. ;)

Ok, 1st time I played BG2 Anomen was not in my party.
2nd time I took him - just to see his abilities. And kept him till the end (with speakers turned off ;))
Would I take him again after that? Always. Even in evil party.

[IMG] Anomen and Nalia are brilliant characters for the simple reason that they're actually intentionally annoying. Its nice to see some complex, flawed characters rather than reams and reams of strait laced do-gooders and nefarious evil-doers. I mean, as much as I love Mazzy and Korgan they're pretty much pure good and evil (although Mazzy very occasionally disappears up her own arse; see Valygar interactions). My latest party boasts Both Imoen and Nalia (or at least will when I rescue the former from Spellhold) for twice the bow-toting magic lady goodness, and Anomen. Sign me up for the fan club....

[IMG] I have nothing agianst Anomen.

And what is this "Mazzy very occcasionaly dissapears up her arse"???

I always look at those interactions with Valygar as flirting. Not self-centeredness.

[IMG] I don't get this... anomen is a pretty good character overall, but considering the much better characters out there, I don't see why anyone would take anomen

-Dragonfly, who just messed up the shadowthieves quest by not giving the evidence to bloodscalp first

anomens cool...i'm thinking of getting rid of minsc for him...minsc is like confused 99% of the time.

Yep, they are a little annoying, but I keep them in my party to balance out MY character: a Cavalier with the "Sir Kalthorine" soundset. He's always to solemn and pious, it's nice to have some straight up annoying idiocy to break the monotony.

Anyhoo, I've yet to hear from Archer14. That was the purpose of the post anyway, to rile him and zaknafein up. Where you at, brother?

Big B; I mean all the "wait on me because Im a knight and you're just a ranger" stuff. Didnt strike me as much of a come hither conversation, personally. Still, its open to interpretation. Incidentally, Mazzy is about my favourite NPC in the game

I think you already know my opinion Demonater351. I'm not going to waste my time typing an answer to this. I new before I even opened the topic to answer it that that was the reason you made it.

Oh and thank you for your support zaknafein.

Uh, I'm just a little floating eyeball, but I can't help but notice how many posts there are just about Anomen... Any char. who generates this much discussion / contraversy is a pretty intelligently written one, whether you'd want him for your best friend or not. As I'm playing though this game for the first time, I've been amazed at how delightfully flawed the various NPCs are. (This is a story in which absolutely nobody is perfect!) And reading these boards for only a couple of weeks, I think I've heard every single NPC get both trashed and praised. That's gotta be a sign of some kind of verisimilitude... so all that is to say, every time I want to Quivering Palm Anomen, I am in awe of the people who made up a character complex enough to provoke an emotional reaction out of me.

    ANOMEN IS GOOD!

I usually give him the Crom Faeyr hammer, which makes him a Big Punchin' walking spell factory - Much better than Viconia...in meele(of course)

  18. Mirkwood Guest

I'm surprised nobody's trotted out the usual "Viconia is a much better cleric" line, or the even more ridiculous "Give Viconia the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength and she can frontline!" one.

Anomen is one of the most powerful MPC's in the game. Against undead nothing can stand a against him, they all end up as gibs bouncing across my screen.

His self-righteous speeches were annoying but I just made him fail his test and that sorted that out.

    [IMG] Mirkwood, LOL.

I should have thought of that!

On the subject of Anomen tho' I have to agree. I would be hard pressed to drop him unless I played a totally evil party in character. (Haven't tried yet).

Definitely a strong, very useful character, serving as both a cleric and a tank. He's got personality problems, but then again I'm the spawn of Bhaal, so I've got no room to talk about other people's problems :)
I think of the group I've finished ToB with, he was the most useful single character.
