Hi. Well, I messed up on the bandits with Jahiera but did not realize it killed the romance thread until WAY later (like after Umar, Windspeare, Twisted Rune, Red Dragon, etc.). So now I'm later in the game and wished I had not messed it up, but it's too much to go WAY back and redo all.

Anyone know how to fix? I've never used the Shadow Keeper cheat program, but am considering it for this one use. But it's not a simple flag or anything as the romance setting is a string (1902423).

Any help? Perhaps an alternate string someone has from when they successfully made it throught he bandit encounter? Etc.

    thanks,

    Devlish

Actually, for an experiment, I went through all the things you can do in the bandit/hostage situation and she gets pretty pissed in all circumstances but I didn't know about it effecting the relationship if you go too far.

Is that the one where the Jaheira says get your hands off me? Is there anyway to get through that without killing the romance?

Well, in the hostage situation I said something like "Hey, we can talk about it. Take for hostage instead of her". Of course we fought, I was hurt badly at the start and after the fight Jaheira said something like "Why the hell did you do it?" OI answererd like "I feared you could get hurt" and she ended with: "Never do that again!"

    The romance went on then.

The only honorable way out anyway, romance or not!

Well I did let her take the hit. I didn't have a romance with her and I sure as hell wasn't going to let them take all my loot. She naturally went beserk, even though I healed her in two seconds after it.

    She was like: You!... You..!
And I was hehe: Now, now Jaheira, no need to thank me *grin*

    That was too weird.

I let them take the loot, which by the way is only 5,000 gp, no matter how much you've got. They attacked me anyway, I killed them and got the money back. I told Jaheira that things are replaceable, people are not, some people less than others. The romance continued.

Tal what was your (chars) alignment when you did that to Jaheira (lawful good???)

I would have replaced even Aerie (who really bugged me as long as I had her in the party).

Who was it again who started the last debate concerning roleplayers?

[IMG] Sorl, my main char is chaotic good. And the decision I made wasn't based on the fact that I wanted any harm to come to Jaheira, but I had this feeling that whichever option I choose would end in the same results. And obviously it does.

I was thinking along the lines, if they take all my weapons and armor etc (as was the impression you get from the conversation) that I would be in an even worse position to defend Jaheira if they decide to attack.
I also had 3 characters with a slew of healing spells ready, plus Jeheira had a bog of potions of extra healing on her. So any hurt on her could be healed in a matter of seconds...

Of course, if I knew they were only going to take the money, not also all of my equipment, I'd choose to give them the money without any seconds thoughts.

What I meant - and the way I understood Ragusa - was not to give your money (NEVER!!!) but to offer yourself as hostage. It gets your throat cut (thats what I meant with 'hurt'). Of course I allways meant this to end with a fight, but as they say: women and children first. Get them out of the shooting line.
I know its not quite consistent with me having her and Viconia as backup fighters at Valygars side, but this is a rather special situation and Jaheira is rightfully mad at you; you are after all the party leader and if YOU didn't set watches right before resting it's YOUR responsibility to take any damage.

Well there was a very good reason for it. My char is a mage in pretty robes with lousy AC and fewer hitpoints than a squirrel. (Ok, almost) :p
Jaheira is a sturdy character with AC -9 and enough hitpoints for two of my mages...

[IMG] Am I the only guy who took the whiny un-heroic but devastatingly funny and cunning method and stuck with it?

I think Jaheira got mad and there was no more interaction with her, so I think I lucked out on the romance. I did try to explain that when the will is submerged new strength is gained, but no-o-o she wouldn't even listen!

Look, secretly I am in full sympathy for you & Tal, but I got that bloody romance with J. going for weeks now and I'm shure not gonna blow it for some puny little would-be kidnappers. (This is of cource no reason not to flame anyone lacking in moral rigidness.)

BTW I think that you loose about half your hp no matter how high they are. My sorcerer - also a proud carrier of robes - did take a step back for a little drink and was quite pleased to watch J. drown those scums in their own blood (he later joined in again with a spell or two for the grand final; a leader has to show presence).

I agree with Sorl, I was romancing Jaheira too and was waiting for the end of that story when these folk came around. And I was playing goot too, so I didn´t see any chance t do anything else.
I also thought that after (possibly) giving away my equipment I would be in a really poor situation to defend me. It just hurt a little bit.
