So, maybe we should have minded our own business, but we didn't and ended up in a fight with some vampires. Anomen went up in a spray of body parts, and here's the part I don't understand -- all of his stuff disappeared. What's with that? Is it a game glitch? Is he a vampire now? The party needs the cash, and I wanted to at least sell his stuff before restocking our numbers.

I could be wrong, but I think that in order to retrieve loot from a corpse, you actually need a corpse. So if Anomen got chunked, you're SOL.

I've got to give you credit - when that happens to me, I just reload (so I don't really bother to look for the loot). Less realistic, but also less severe.

Items can't be chunked. It's gotta be a glich. The only way items can be destroyed along with a person/enemy, that I know of, are by way of hitting a petrified creature (flesh to stone, etc.) or the disintegrate spell. But through a level drain death or even a critical-hit chunking...no.

A petrified person looks the same like any other person when hit, pieces all over. Given that Anomen's levels where drained and his saving throws drowend and some vampires in the game use magic, a chromatic orb may have petrified Anomen.

But have you rested after your battle ? If you had "rest until healed" on but your cleric scattered in pieces all around, your rest time may have suddenly sprung up from 8 hours to 4 days. In this case, all items on the ground disappear except quest important items.

Didn't rest afterward, just started picking up the pieces -- those that were still there. Since petrified creatures don't bleed, Anomen couldn't have been turned to stone. Thanks for that tip, though.

I've saved the game separately and am treating it as a glitch for now. If someone comes up with a good explanation, I'll go back to the adventure without Anomen and with the early enmity of the vamps. There seem to be plenty who hate Anomen, so I'm curious to see what you come up with.

Sheesh, if it is a genuine glitch then its not really cheating if u CLUA the items back, its getting around a legitemate game bug.
