    [​IMG] Man..I also have problems with my videocard (voodoo2). The game goes totally major slow and sometimes the game causes critical error in my glide3x. Strange....the game uses openGL..hmmm..

    Sorry Bel, I haven´t encountered that even on my sister´s computer (she as an ATI-Rage-something too). What brand´s your CPU, how fast is it? How much RAM do you have? Do you use Win95 or Win98?

    BTW - MY HOMEBUILT WORKS FLAWLESS :D

    [​IMG] The pc company gave it to me as a warranty replacement. I had an HP Pavillion P2/450 with 96MB Ram, and I think the same video card I just installed...and the 3D worked fine.

    The pc they gave me as a replacement is an HP Celeron/766 with 128MB Ram, the orignal video card is integrated into the motherboard, but I just installed that ATI card...but still nothing. In all other respects, this pc is superior to my old one. I've never been too sure about the Celeron processor, but I've heard it's better then the P2 for games.

    I just ordered a Creative Annihilator 2 PCI video card, but it has to be shipped to me. Hopefully this will work. It has an Nvidia GeForce2 chipset...Which should be more than enough for the game.

    Amazingly, I'm upgrading my pc all around BG2...Kinda scary! :D

    I would serious look at getting a motherboard with an AGP slot , It is really a waster to put a card like the geforce 2 into a PCI slot.

    [​IMG] Uggh! At this point, I can't complain too much...The pc was free. The PCI card I'm getting is only like a hundred bucks...So, I'll just go with that for now.

    I don't want to get a whole new motherboard...I'd just buy a new pc then.

    A friend of mine got BG2 a month ago, but he couldn't install it. I laughed in his face about it for a while and then suggested that he email tech support. They also laughed in his face and so he's had the game for a while but can't install it. Anyone else have similar problems?

    [​IMG] At least I can play it...It's just not 3D at the moment. The only thing it really affects are the spell effects. Most of the time, it just shows up on your portait, not the screen.

    I just miss the pretty 3D graphics!

    I HAVE EXACTLY the smae problem. I have an integrated card to the motherboard.

    the ATI graphics card they gave ya ISN'T compatible with OpenGL... that's why it won't work! The best bet is to go out an get a Voodoo5 PCI... that'll work sweet for ya!

    and send back that pants ATi card... and disable that piece of shit on your motherboard as it'll suck away your RAM as runs using your systems main memory.

    Integrated cards suck... and don't i know it...

    Deano & Bel: I pity both of you. I heared lots of nasty things about integrated graphics accelerators, not so far about HP computers in general. However, I agree that an AGP-slot is mor suited for a graphics card, but cost is always a major concern in hardware - and certainly: the longer you wait...
    I bought my PC last summer and all in all it was worth the money, though more expensive than I planned for I had to buy a new printer and screen shortly after. However, I´m happy with it, for till now it digested every game I fed.
    However, good luck for both of you.

    I have an ATI Rage Fury 32MB + Voodoo 2 and I had no problems playing the game with all major effects on.

    Longest playing session was 14 hours with Ultima Online.

    [​IMG] My lognest gaming session was with my friends. They brought their comps to my house, set up a LAN and started a multiplayer game. We were trying to see who the god of gaming was by seeing who could go longest. One gut went out at 14 hours, another at 16 and I tied with my other friend at 23 hours. The bags under my eyes were 3 feet long I swear. Try doing that.

    Yes LANing sometimes is painful. I meet some friends every 2 or 3 months and we go for UT and the mods, preferrably capture the flag mode.
    Usually it´s about 12-14h for the first session and some more the next morning.
    Oh, I have a K-7/ 650, 128 MB and Erazor-III Pro. I never had any problems with BG-2 :D

    [​IMG] Thanks for all the advice...I'm working on getting a better graphics card...Otherwise the pc is working just fine...Considering it was a freebie...

    Toast - Was that P&P thing for me? If so, I always liked P&P...It's almost like reading a book for me - I imagine what's going on in my head from the descriptions the DM and other players used. So I guess my head already has a pretty good 3D graphics card! ;)

    Longest gaming sessions: P&P - 12 hours, longest pc game session 10-11 hours (I just can't hang like I used to :D)

    Longest UT session: 22 hours. I fell asleep on Facing Worlds. Then again, I am the #1 player in the world at UT mods, so that wasn't too shocking.

    Longest i did was ye old game Eye of the Beholder II.

    Had just broken up with g/f, bought the game before christmas sat and played for an hour or two.

    Next session through the drow bit etc and I was on the thing for 27 hours, I swear this is true.

    Oddly that was not enough to finish (i am very thorough and get lost in mazes) but i was almost done.

    Excellent game as I recall.

    EOB III sucked as I recall though.
