Has anyone else used Shadowkeeper to modify
the NPCs to make them more useful? I don't
mean obvious cheating like changing ability
    scores, just changing their classes.

It seems a little inexcusable the lack of use
the NPCs make of the new kits and classes.
How did Minsc even become a ranger? He doesn't have anywhere near the stats for it.

    Here's what I'm thinking about;

    Korgan Wizard Slayer
    Anomen Cavalier
Nalia Priestess of Lathander (I need not
    another Imoen getting killed in
    every battle)
    Mazzy Kensai
    Imoen MULTI-class Fighter/Thief/Mage
    (I reached this decision after
the third time I had to restore
after she was killed by goblin
    archers)
    Jaheira Avenger Druid
    Minsc Fighter Berserker
    Viconia Priestess of Talos

Everyone else seems to use the kits
reasonably well enough. Do you think any of
this might cause some problems? It doesn't
    seem to yet.

My main character is a Skald, and I have three other PCs (thanks to starting as a
multi-player game); a monk, barbarian, and
    a sorcerer.

Any comments or ideas? My "core group" is
weak on healing and thieving (but devestating
in combat), but both sets of skills seem
    well represented among the NPCs.

[IMG] From your comments i'm guessing you haven't played BG1.
Minsc, Jaheria, Viconia + Edwin were all from there and all had those classes therefore should not be changed. Imoen was a thief in BG1 but those fools dualed her to a mage

Viconia couldn't be a priestess of talos anyway since she is a drow worshipping ___ (ermm me forgotten but i know it's not talos anyone want to help me out here?)

Mazzy would make a more appropiate cavalier than kensai as she is trying to be a paladin almost. However because of the restrictions in 2e kit/class rules it's not possible for her to be one.

Next Anomen. He begins as a squire (is this the right word?) and *SPOILER* later on can become a knight of the Order of the Radiant hand. At this point making him a cavalier or other sort of paladin i would suport.

Hmmm Nalia as a Priestess of Lathander?? WTF? I have no idea how you can consider this suitable

Korgan as a Wizard Slayer. If Wizard slayers weren't so bad in BG2 IMO then i would agree with you on this. I certainly agree that he has a Wizard Slayer attitude so perhaps you could change him, it's up to you.

    Ok hope that helped.

    [IMG] Thank you.
I did just remember that i think i started a topic similiar to this about how the new classes and kits are underused. So Korotiku you might want to have a look at this topic

I'll admit I'm not an expert on Drow, but
why is it any more off for Viconia to be
a priestess of Talos than Shar? Don't Drow
    usually worship Lolth?

I know Minsc and company were in BG1, but
I could accept continuity bowing to practicality in this case. Is it perchance explained in BG1 how Minsc could be a ranger with a wisdom of around 6?

As for making Nalia a priestess of Lathander, I just felt I needed a dedicated
healer more than I needed another thief/mage.

[IMG] Drow usually worship Lloth yes, but Viconia ran away from the Underdark because of 'vicious drow politics' (see R.A Salvatore's Homeland), and therefore decided to worship Shar after Lloth abandoned her.

Also changing all the NPC's to Kits would have a severly negative effect on the game. Dialogs wouldn't work properly, or would not start at all, some quests would not function.
    Etc etc.

And the game would crash everytime you try one of their Kit-Related special abilities.
Ever tried to make Minsc into a Berserker?
    Bad Move..:nono:

Just take it from me..leave the classes alone!

I'm not sure about changing NPC classes
having a detrimental effect on the game. I
just tried it, with Minsc as a fighter Berserker, Jaheira as a Shapeshifter, and Imoen as a Blade. All the abilities seem to
work as normal (although it's hard to tell with Imoen's spins, since she never hits either way), and the game certainly didn't crash.

I would think, and I could be wrong, but it
seems reasonable, that the game knows who's
who no matter what you do to them. Otherwise, "legal" glitches might occur if you dual-classes Yoshimo, since he'd no longer be a thief.

Maybe if you tried to change something severely, like making Minsc a monk, it might
cause problems somewhere, but just giving
Jaheira a kit shouldn't be that bad. The
most severe of my changes was making Nalia
    a priest instead of a mage/thief, and I don't
see how that would cause problems.

Ever occured you that Jaheira's Harper Pin won't be useable by her now when you've changed her?

    [EDIT]
Harper pin is useable only by true neutral half-elf or half-orc, fighter/druid or bard. Bard and half-orc useability is a bug. Unless you made her shapeshifter/fighter, pin is buh-bye.

    Actually...no it hasn't.

The only thing I would be doing is adding
an Avenger kit. How would that make the Harper pin unusable?
