How about play as a solo conjurer with 18 IN and zero limitations to equipment? This guy untill he reaches the Underdark will have hit max level being a more powerfull spellcaster than a demilich, if he survives of course. However I doubt such character would be able to finish the game, though I put more chances to him than to a Warrior type -I don't know about Druids and Clerics. The ideal for a solo character would be a multiclassed Fighter/Mage/Cleric class with 18/?? ST 18 DEX 16+ CON 16+ WIS 18 IN stats. A character with 9 ST (mentioned above) would hardly be able to carry the quest items with him making looting habit a nightmare. Any comments?

You can have fun that way, but it's not what I'd call a "challenge". The only character I soloed through was a straight mage with an 18 INT, and it was really easy. Lots of people have done solo mages/sorcerers *including* tough restrictions and finished them. I haven't tried soloing other classes (not really a fan of solo play), but I suspect a mage is the easiest single-class soloist.

Been playing a while, into ad&d for yonks. To be told i`m a watcher (minus several million) makes me feel like "the inside of a Troll`s jockstrap".
Should I complain ? or can you make me feel worse/better..either will do !

First of all the cleric doesnt get life bonusses above 16 UNLESS your constitution is so high you are regenerating.

2nd if you're gonna solo a cleric I'd advice a human. Start as fighter and dual class at level 9 or so. It might be a real hard start but as soon as you breach that level 10 you'll be a cleric who can fight like tha devil.

The challenge is to SOLO a cleric. To solo a PURE cleric. This isn't just a suggestion for a solo assignment, it's a challenge.
