So I'm playing a 3 person multiplayer party with some buddies and it's looking like this:

    Pc-Wizard Slayer(15)/Rogue(x)
    Kensai(12)/mage(x)
    cleric/mage

I've theorised that 100% magic resistance is in fact possible, but I have a few questions about that. Here was what I had in mind for gear:
    Carsomyr-50%magic resistance
    Amulet of the seldarine-10% mr
    Ring of Gaxx-10%mr
    Character-15%mr
    Bhaal Tear(good)-10%mr
    Machine of lum the mad-5%mr

That adds up to 100% magic resistance if my calculations are correct. What I'm wondering, though, is whether or not that is actually doable as I haven't tried use any item in a while and I can't recall whether or not that would let me use carsomyr with an evil character. I'm also wondering whether or not the good bhaal tear for 10% magic resistance is possible to get with an evil character. Ie, if i did the "good" path with that tear, but the evil with all the others, would I still get that bonus?

Has anybody tried a character like this? It seems like it would be very powerful, and that getting high enough levels would be viable enough with a three person party that is going from bg1-tob. 100% mr is certainly nothing to scoff at, if it is indeed possible like I think.

Carsomyr can only be used by paladins and characters with UAI (which also bypasses alignment restrictions). And yes, you can get the good Bhaal Tear (or all of them if you like) with an evil character and stay evil; unless you have the Revised Hell Trials mod, in which case you just need to do enough evil stuff to balance out the good.

    P.S. 100% MR kicks a$$!!!

Great! Then this should be quite doable. Though we will probably need to get an xp cap remover for bg1, as we are leveling up really fast. I can't even imagine how fast one levels in bg2 with a three person party.

IIRC, Carsomyr SETS the magic resistance to 50%, so nothing else will stack with its MR.

When I have Keldorn (or thief) wielding Carsomyr, it gives him 50% MR, but if you equip the sword first and then equip your ammy and ring, it will stack. Though I am not sure about innate MR from classes or tears or MoLtM.

I had iirc 110% MR whit F/M/T and all other items MR have stacked whit Carsomyr+tears of Bhaal.
(i did transfer the Cloak of Balduran in to SoA and ToB..could not resist..)
Playing whit 100%MR+ is little to easy..but its great!
Just rush in to combat whit stone skin and mirror image!!!

    @Balle:
That only happens with elemental resistances.

You can get Viconia up to 100% Magic Resistance somehow too, though I forget how. Might involve the Human Flesh armour.

Actually getting Viconia to 100% isn't difficult at all. I don't remember how to exactly do it, but I've done that several times. IIRC there's a priest-only amulet that grants MR, and Vicky's innate 65% go a long way towards achieving full MR.
