2 player game book - anyone know the name of this one?

    Apologies if this isn't the correct place to post this, as I haven't been on these boards for a very long time.

    I'm trying to find the name of a gamebook I used to own. It was amazing, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

    The story involved an annual hunting event, where the tyrannical lord of the game's setting (a powerful, winged demon lord with a huge mace and a pack of infernal hounds) released a single, unarmed prisoner from his dungeons, gave him a short head-start and then set out to hunt him down.

    It was actually a set of 2 books, one for the lord and another for the prisoner. It played in a standard choose-your-own-adventure style, except it involved a sort of "wait" mechanic to imitate time where the book would give you a message to stop reading until your opponent had reached a similar wait point.

    It was great fun and very re-playable, as the two roles were very different. All I remember is that the books had orange covers, one of which featured the demon-lord fellow, and that it didn't belong to any of the well-known gamebook series like Fighting Fantasy or Choose Your Own Adventure.

    If anyone has any idea of what this book was called, or knows of a comprehensive, categorised list of gamebooks that I could use to find it, I would be very grateful. :)

    I was trying to find out the answer to the same question, and, through Google found you here. I've got the answer now and thought I'd come back and tell you.

    Duel Master!

    Those were the two player books, complete with three letter codes attached to each paragraph. If your code matched your friend's, you were in the same place and had to fight.

    PS: Duel Master was a series of books. The specific one you're thinking of is called 'Blood Valley'.
