[IMG] So I got a little bored with my multiplayer party. I'm thinking of rolling again. I'm debating a party with Edwin, Imoen, and Aerie. My protagonist would be a wild mage. I was thinking of rounding the party out with Viconia and Jaheira (changed out to Sarevok in ToB).

My question is this: will I end up having problems getting enough scrolls for that many arcane casters? Are there any other issues I should be aware of? I'm going to play Tutu first (Edwin, Imoen, Khalid/Jaheira, and Viconia) so I won't be to BG2 right away.

Enough scrolls to go around? Great question. I almost never play with more than one or two mages in my party, usually just a Wild Mage protag. You might consider assigning different roles to each mage and distribute spells accordingly. For example, protagonist might be primarily offensive, Edwin for Summoning and/or debuffing enemies, Aerie for party buffing, and Imoen as catch all/miscellaneous. But I think there will be plenty of scrolls, especially late in the game when Adventurer's Mart restocks and in Saradush. Early and mid-BG2 might be kinda sparse though... good luck, tell us how it goes!

There's only a select few upper level spells where you're stuck with only 1 scroll for it until Saradush. Most 9th level spells can't be found before 6th chapter, but it's unlikely your mages would be able to use them either before that, so it's hardly a problem.

The REALLY important ones such as Stoneskin and Breach are all over the place so you could outfit a battallion of mages with the essentials if you wanted to.

Still, I heartily recommend the "specialization" advice given above. Not only makes it easier to pull off with the limited early availability of scrolls, but it helps with the character specialty aspect as well when you have a rough guideline what your guys are primarily for. Note that everyone should try to get Stoneskin asap anyway, but most of them have it from start so it's not a big deal.

Scrolls in BG1 are somewhat scarce, but you should be able to get by, depending on who you use instead of Aerie. But the specialization advice is worth considereing.

I was thinking of some specialization, yeah. I also intend to impose a limit on myself (once I get into JOG's Wild Mage mod) of requiring specialist wizards (Edwin and Protagonist) to memorize a spell from their schools for each spell level. Thanks for the advice and tips.
