I don't think the romance patch actauly allows Dwarfs to have romances. It is only supposed to allow the three women romances to continue even after you chosen one over the others. I have not heard that it also overcomes racial limitations (it doesn't mention that in the description). Please post again if you are 'sure' that the patch does address racial limitations.

Anyway, if you read this other recent post:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/community/threads/can-half-orcs-love.2870/

You will see that there is a very easy method to allow any race to have a romance. I think Melkhior has already seen it but I thought I post this message for any dwarfs that come hunting info at a later date.

    Solidarity my Dwarven brothers.

*ahem*. Not all dwarves are BROTHERS! I gotta beard but I'm still a broad...

The description of the romance script says, "2) Any race of protagonist can now have a romance with any of Aerie, Jaheira or Viconia". Not that any self-respectin' dwarf would be much interested in them flighty elf-like girlies. Then again, it gets lonely in a dungeon at night, and Jan just keeps ignoring my come-hither hammer wiggle...

Thanks for corecting me on that Sprite. It looks like the script has been updated since I downloaded it. The original didn't have all the extra stuff. Sorry everyone.

PS Sprite are you one of those strange newfangled Dwarfs? 'Sisters' I think they are called. I heard about one in Ank Morpork going by the name of Cheery Littlebottom 'she' (I think that's the right word) is rumoured to not wear trousers but something called a 'skirt.' Shocking stuff. Oh well times they be a changing, I'll have to discuss it with me old mate Ironbeard and see what the movement's stance is on this.

/me wanders off worrying why the thought of a fine silky beard makes him think about tunneling.

I just wanted to say that the patch worked.
But one thing is pretty strange though.
The Romance starts right away and when I asked Jaheria to leave the party just when I released her, she said something like this:
What, I thought we had something special, that we were more than just partymembers...bla.bla.bla.......... y´know!
    Why was that?
Shouldn´t it at least start after you see Khalid on that table?
What do you think about this?

I guess there is just one variable to say if the romance is active or not. If you meet the criteria for Jaheira (via the patch) the romance is made active unless you end it somehow. So in your case when she was booted out she gave the repsonse for an active romance. Of course I agree with you that the romance check (to make it active) shouldn't be done until you are out of the dungeon and past Khalid. Still it's a big game, these things are easy to overlook and we are talking about an unofficial patch here....

I have an more embarrassing glitch to report: I finally loaded the romance script yesterday since I was running out of quests (NOOOOOOOO!.....), but now Jaheira and Aerie refer to my female protagonist as "him". Aaaaaaargh!

Slappy: if Captain Carrot himself tolerates his corporals flashing their knees in a "skirt", there isn't a dwarf in Faerun with a right to complain about my splint-mail sundress. But while I'm sure I don't know WHAT you meant by that last line, it sounded distinctly unchivalrous. Mend your ways or face Cadslayer, my +5 Hammer of Etiquette.

I can see that hammer is going to be needed a lot if my fellow umm, I mean, other dwarves are going to get the hang of this 'fe-male' dwarf business. The scary thing is I don't know what I meant by that last line either. I keep getting these strange thoughts nowadays. Some bloke at Unseen Universtity tried to explain it to me. He said something about 100s of years of cultural evolutions suddenly catching up with 1000s of years of biological evolutions. But I'm buggered if that makes any sense to me. Oh well, I'm off to find Ironbeard in the Friendly Arm to see if he fancy quaffing some ales and singing about Gold.
