A few questions

I don't normally do this, but I'm on a croosroads in my current BGII game and thought I'd bother you guys with it

I have a party consisting of:
Lacessit: CN Blade
Jaheira
Korgan
Viconia
Edwin
Yoshimo

Yoshimo will of course be replaced later on with Imoen, but the real snag is this.
I just killed Valygar (don't ask me why, if only I knew... Probably just because he gets on my nerves) and I am thinking about losing Jaheira soon. I'm dumping her for Viccy romance-wise, I just want to see the 'cat-fight'. After that I suppose better NPCs can be found but which ones?? I have a rep of 13, and currently doing the last chapter two quests. Any ideas on who should replace Jaheira?

 

Anyone apart from Cernd and that bard guy

 

Cernd is self-explanatory I didn't take Haer'Dalis because two blades sounds like cheese to me

Seriously, I was thinking about taking Haer'...

 

If I were you, I would have taken Valygar but that's going to be pretty hard now since you killed him so I suppose I would go for Minsc or Keldorn but not the bard, if you want to kill your NPC's then kill him!

 

Keldorn would slash up my love-interest. Maybe Minsc. He might object to some of my actions though...

 

There's always Mazzy or Jan(My favorite )


You probably don't need Jan though, as you've got Edwin for spells and Yoshi/Imoen for thieving, so my vote goes for Mazzy or Minsc. I've never had Mazzy in my party long-term, so I don't know how great a fighter she can become, but she's got skills with short bow and short swords (or at least she does in ToB), so there's some versatility there. If she's not cutting it as meat, stick her in the back and fire away

 

I think I know what you're planning, and I suggest you take Sarevok.
You're also a two-handed weapon less.
Before that, you can try taking Minsc... I'm sure he won't object too much.
Persuasiveness and Deceit are great bardic traits.

 

I'd say grab mazzy but having Korgan as your only true tank would make things difficult. I'll go with Scythesong on this one, grab that idiot purple headed ranger (sidenote, why is Minsc's hair on his paper-doll white? Shouldn't it be purple to reflect the tattoo?) give him a big sword and watch the short man and the tall man make mince of anything and everything.

As this is my gripe topic anyway After lowering my rep by having Viccy in my party, collecting the silver pantaloons for -2 and not getting rep for Umar Hills because I was rude enough to ask for an advance (sheesh) I'm around 13 rep now. Any ideas on how I might lower it 1 or two more? Before the Slayer?

 

I'd go with Mazzy, if only because of her interaction with Korgan. Also, her abilities and proficiencies make her very versatile.

For reputation loss, I believe the easiest way would be to get caught stealing from a shop (make sure you don't need that shop ever again!). I *think* it would drop your rep by 2, but it might be more than that.

 

Mazzy is the only one you can take where there wouldn't be a potential for conflict. Minsc can get into a fight with Edwin, and Keldorn can get into a fight with Viconia, but I must point out that the odds of this happening are extremely low. If it does happen, reload your game, kick Keldorn out, and then ask him to join again immediately thereafter, and that usually gets rid of the fight - yes it's cheesy, but it will allow you to keep whatever party you want together.

 

Acually you don't have to kick him out, just reload a previous safe and continue playing. That's how I used to do it (now I just don't take him with me anymore) and it works. My assumption is that the occurence of the dialogue that makes him attack viccy is random.

 

You are on about ToB sorry I didn't notice. Take Sarevok of course.

 

How to lower your reputation?

If you haven't been in the underdark yet, use the man-destroying machine in Ust Natha, as it will lower your rep with 1 per people you order to kill.

Another way to lose rep is with the Druid Grove quest, if you posion the grove, but that will prevent you from have Cernd joining you, as he will try to wack your face if you do.


And no, I neeeeever play evil.

 

If you still have Yoshimo, you're a ways from getting Sarevok.

Personally, I'd stick with Jaheira. The spells she gets are awesome, and once she can cast Ironskins and Insect Plague, she becomes the most useful NPC, IMHO.

 

IMHO, when you get Imoen back, you should drop Edwin for [insert favourite pure fighter-type here].

 

Drop Edwin??? With him on the Cloak of Vecnah, the ring of wizardry, the staff of the Magi and his very own red Wizard necklace??

Of course, I /will/ take Sarevok when I get to the pocket plane, but what do I do in the mean time? Maybe I should just stikc to Jaheira after all...

 

Good way to lose rep is to kick Viccy out then let her back in again... each time drops your reputation by 2.

 

Wow. doesn't it rise by two every time you kick her out though?

 

Yes, it do, that is not a perfect way to remove reputation.
