Adventure! Fame & (more) fortune! What else?! :D

I mean, seriously, if any character knew anything about Planescape, don't you think they'd at least want to visit Sigil? I know I sure would. ;)

Some big bad plotting evil schemes to attack the material plane from another plane? A kind of cure needed to fight a plague? Which you can only get in another plane?

Yeah... Fame, Adventure and more...Gold... I never seen a Halfling (well I never saw a halfling in reality) who love gold that much! He's the one who always want gold and buy expensive and many time useless thing. Well thx for the tips, but in the manuel of the plane they don't talk about Sigil? Where could I find some info about it?

Bah. Sigil is hardly mentioned in Manual of the Planes. I suggest you dig up old 2E material on it. Yeah, I know. Shudder. Gasp.

Heres a good reason. Some prick from the planes came down, destroyed their stronghold, stole their gold, destroyed their reputation and did multiple other realy annoying stuff to them

Mmh, can't think of anything good. Maybe you like this though.

During the construction your father died 'by accident'. His testiments tell that almost all money and estates go to a family-member (or whatever) your father wasn't really very fond of.
This person claims your land, misuses your family's reputation and spends money on slaves and dark magic.
Needless to say, you don't trust it and decide to search for your father, what leads you to Sigil.

Who says they have to want to leave? All sorts of fun can be had from an involuntary departure from the Prime Material.

It could be done in any number of ways, too. Portals, such as described in Planescape, could easily drop them anywhere.

I think it would be cool if they are nearby when an old man is mugged. Unknown to the muggers, the old man's walking stick is a Staff of Power. During the brief struggle, the old man breaks it over his knee in a retributive strike. (Rule 0 that they get the 50% chance to be randomly planeshifted instead of destroyed) You need a reason for the party not to be separated by this random shift, so perhaps they end up in some kind of planar prison or lab with an artifact that attracts planar travellers.

Suddenly, they are neck-deep in Planescape. ;)

I suppose I ought to elaborate on the demon-smiting thing. A few ideas:

    1. A Paladin has discovered a planar gate to a demiplane, which in turn has a gate to the Lower Planes. Oh yeah, and the Gate's one-way. Which means a big crusade. Sadly, Paladins aren't aware that Pit Fiends have DR 20/+3. Uh-oh. So they take you along, with promises of fame and favor by the gods, so long as you kill demons for them.

    2. Succubi (or Erinyes, if you prefer) are in the city. Oh, and they have a few trinkets that let them travel around the Planes. Suddenly the town brothel you wake up in is replaced with a sea of flies.

    3. The characters find a Amulet of the Planes. Oh, and it's intelligent. And chaotic evil.
