A good way to protect clerics?

    Well,my question is,how can I protect my clerics in a fierce battle like the ending of Ascension mod?Mages have Protection from Magical Weapon but clerics,have no such spells.
    For example I am having Viconia in the end of ToB,and she dies too quickly in the final battle.After all,Balthazar and Abazigal are no slouch you know...
    Could someone tell me is there any good way to protect clerics?To avoid getting killed before she can cast a simple spell...?

    Armor of Faith, Sanctuary, Barkskin, Blade Barrier cast on herself.

    Use her on offense instead on defence. Holy power + righteous magic + bless + chant + harm. Works pretty well for me. For litlle extra spice add her regeneration on herself, so she can survive longer.

    Armor of faith stacks in unpatched game, so abuse it if you want.

    Gargoyle boots also cast stoneskin which helps.

    Also, best protection is never allowing her to be targetted, keep her back, while fighters with Hardiness and Mages with PfMW tanks those tough guys, she can cast spells/attack with Energy Blades in the back.

    Good AC is not enough against the Five and Melissan,so dont bother with it.

    The best way to protect your cleric would be to give him good resistance to physical dmg.So give him the flail Defender of Eastheaven and cast Armor of Faith for a total of 45% p.res.
    Also if you have not upgradded the staff of the Ram and you have Gromnir s helmet (50% to crushing) you can make your cleric almost immune to crushing.

    Other ways:

    - Shapechange in rat with the cloak of the Sewers.
    The Rat form gives 90% physical resistance and it stacks with AoF or the resistance of the flail Defender ;) .So you can make your cleric immune to physical dmg for several rounds.

    - Stoneskin from the Gargoyles boots (2 skins/charge) or from the Wand of Wonder (10% chance to get stoneskin,but with over 5 skins/charge).

    - As Silverstar said,dont allow your cleric to be targetted.Pausing the game will help a lot in this battle.

    ^Aye, you would do well to heed thetruth's advice, he has soloed a pure cleric through the modded game and Ascension battle! :thumb: He sure knows what he is saying.
