While experimenting on ways to go fast through the game I found the following trick to go through the maze under the Thief Guild, - quickly and safely. First, I cast Clairevoyance to reveal the maze. Then, I cast Minor Globe of Invulnerability (this is to absorb harmlessly the Lighning Bolt, Fireball and Magic Missile traps the maze is equipped with). After that I hide in the shadows and click on the maze's exit. The magic of pathfinding does the rest. Minor Globe of Invulnerability lasts long enough for the entire maze because I have the Boots of Speed and have drank an Oil of Speed earlier.

If you lowered your pathfinding (to get Drizzt with everybody's favorite method) or never touched it, better put it at a decent level otherwise you won't be able to traverse the maze on auto-pilot.

I was astonished to discover that Clairvoyance works there so I tried it many in other interiors and have yet to find a place it doesn't work. This cool but broken spell could be helpfull on other dungeons like the Firewine or Durlag's.

Magic of pathfinding? You've got to be kidding... how long does it take? 5 hours? I had to move inch by inch there considering the "AI" pathfinding couldn't even move the characters a row higher without backtracking right to the beginning of the maze or scattering them in all possible directions. Though I don't really remember what I had my pathfinding nodes at back then, but it was at least the default value.

Once I revealed the whole map through exploration, it still took me more than ten minutes to work my way through the maze.

I'd say there's just no way of getting through quickly.

OK sorry. Maybe I wasn't clear. My pathfinding was set to 400,000 (the maximum with ToSC installed and patched). And more inportantly, I was a solo character double hasted (Boots of Speed + Oil of Speed). It takes my F/M/T 57 seconds from one exit to the other.

With a party it would be a mess. They would bump into each other go backwards bump again etc... With a party, I would suggest sending one at a time. You wouldn't be in a hurry, so praying the first one triggered/disarmed all the traps the others could just walk leisurely through with invisibility/hide in shadows (to avoid waking up the interest of the maze's denizens).

I said praying, cause sometimes, it happens that traps are not triggered when you go through them very fast. Also, with a little luck and practice you can walk around most traps. Even if the trap cuts the path and seems to be unavoidable.

Ah, that explains it. Solo would work, but it's a nightmare with a party.

Clairevoyance can not work indoor, or maybe there is a trick i dont know? otherwise I cant think there is any shortcut for going through it one by one with oil of speed.

wby87: some maps are "bugged" that they forgot to enable/diable indoor or outdoor triggers. so basically cast clairevoyance, and it checks, and that specific map is set to outdoor, and it works. seen a couple of other such maps as well, but it has been so long isnce that i do not recal anylonger.

Clairvoyance works anywhere if you use it from a scroll.

It worked for me in BG2, with TOB and the patch. Maybe some mod fixes it. Granted, it's not supposed to work that way by the description.
