In BG, you could summon a million creatures if you so desired -- in PnP you can do the same thing. I HATE the 5 limit in the BG2 saga -- I've said it before but it was buried, so I'm saying it again -- I'd LOVE to see a mod that permits unlimited summoning! Any volunteers?

Oh, and I know the simalcrum trick, I hate it, it's too complicated -- I want complete freedom to let Edwin, Cernd, Jaheira, and the rest of the spellcasting crew to summon to their heart's content.

To do that you'd have to alter the game itself, I think, it would be difficult and probably take a long time, and I don't think that many people would download it. Five is usually enough.

 

Actually, it would be a fairly trivial hack--you just set the RACE of all summonable creatures to something other than "summon." That defeats the game engine's check.

Yes, it would.

To override them without using jcompton's method is majorly illegal, so don't even try it.

 

It's gender you change, not race. And you can modify the IDS targetting in the SPL files to account for the changes, so Death Spell would remain useful.

 

I want to state for the record that I did not and do not advocate anything illegal, and if it sounded that way I really have to apologize. My logic was and is, if the Ease of Use mod allows you to stack things unlimitedly, and it or another mod allows you to get all the strongholds, and other mods change all sorts of things about the game, why not this?

 

I think Rastor might be referring to provisions against direct binary modification of files, which are normally prohibited by license agreements, but those license conditions deserve to be buried alongside "you can't punch a horse in the face in the middle of the street on Sunday" laws.
