Atleast for me I encountered something new today. I had just wacked all the vampires and staked Bodhi and was on my way to the forest of Tethir when I got waylaid by something new. Some nobleman looking merchant who asked if I was the famous Charname and then that he needed to take me into custody, then him and all his goons turned into me. Not nearly of the same level but just in appearance. They were also all green but the sword still came up when you put the marker over themm and they died like red foes by a horridwilting. What is this related to? I have never encountered it in my other 6 runs through the game.

I have encountered this only once before.

I was abit confused at the time aswell tbh, when it happened I thought it was another one of Jons scams, then I thought it might have something to do with the dudes on the end sequence.

Can anyone shed light on this?

I fought and killed them too. I'm not sure why they were after me. I assumed they were just some good ole Bounty Hunters (BG 1).

I encountered them every time we traveled outside the city. Mostly when heading for the Tempel of Amaunator (sp?) to get my consort back.

Not that I am sure, but I think they are some sort of clones sent by Irenicus. After all, he had Charname & Co. in his tender grasp for some time and might have done some tinkering with them.

It's simply a random encounter with no great meaning. IIRC they are dopplegangers and offer no great challenge, simply a little colour.

Nothing out of the ordinary is meaningless in BG2, in my experience. This was probably part of a quest that was yanked.

As for Dendri's theory, I don't think so. I mean, he's locked away in Spellhold, he can't really tell his minions to go fetch.

I don't think they are involved with Jon, like I said, how could he tell them to get you?

What happens if you don't attack them?

I think I encountered them once, but I can't remember what I did.

All these bounty hunters reminds me of Arcanum. :)

I once told them I was not charname, and insisted. They said 'I see we were mistaken' or some such thing and walk off.

So it is possible to avoid them...though it doesn't matter much either way.

Nope, I was solo. I guess it could be part of one of the unfinished quests, there are quite a few of them. Can you imagine how wicked it would have been if they had followed through on all of their ideas before they released the game?

Well, just imagine how long the game would be. Besides, it's probably best. If they'd took on all the quests they'd probably still be working on it! :D

The dopplegangers makes sense for the BG 1 storyline. After we slaughtered a couple hundred of those beasties, I'm sure the survivers might want revenge!
