Never screw with a Scandinavian.

 

It almost seems like a group action. With a government building being bombs and then a government sponsored youth event being targetted.

I don't know anything about Norweigian politics, but this seems suspiscious.

Still horrible and it takes a real coward to attack children.

 

I wonder what the Norwegian PM did to piss these guys off? Off course that is pure speculation on my part.

 

My read from the article is that the government recently upset an islamic cleric.

 

Any source on the islamic speculations? I've been watching NRK (Norway TV) broadcasts most of this evening and still this is the first time I hear of this possible connection here.

Not that it sounds all that far-fetched, just surprising that I didn't pick it up on the telly.

 

Has anyone claimed responsibility yet? Sky News seem to be suggesting that it is the work of a "Muslim Terrorist group".

Given that I don't think anyone has claimed responsibility yet I reckon this is Libya again.

 

I can tell you whats been announced this far (I am norwegian and I live in Norway).

A 1.90m blond norwegian man got arrested for the crimes. The same guy set off the bomb, and then attacked the youth-program. By the looks of things, he wasn`t alone.

True to their nature, the Al Quaida swiftly claimed they did it (wich was ********).

Mostly it points to some political attack, since the youth program was from the same political party as our prime-minister. Some rumors are also saying neo-nazis, though. I am voting for the first theory in any case.

No muslim involvement. Whatever tv-station tells you this probably just wants to add heat to islamic fanatism.

Christ, there's 80+ people dead from the island shooting

 

This is insane, 84 youths gunned down on the island. Any with military experience tell me how long that would take for a lone gunman? Imagine the horror, stuck on an island where automatic fire is trying to shoot you.

Apparently he was dressed as a policeman and rounded everyone up first.

 

Here in Germany they talk about a lone neo-nazi-Right-winger.
#No word about Islamic-influenced action.

But still, the scope is a bit grand for a loner!
First the Bombing and then a few hours later the island shooting!
(Utoya is a ****ing trap. Small and nowhere to go without swimming or boating)
They stood no chance.

Still, such an number of casualties is immense, that guy must have changed clips a couple of times!

I had a girl there is Oslo once. Hope she's alright!

 

According to the Finnish media we actually seem to be looking at a extreme Christian terrorist instead of a Islamic one...

 

Whether it be a Muslim or an Aryan, the guy deserves death. He won't get it of course, but it's what he deserves.

 

In a way I'm kind of glad that it's a Christian extremist that did this, people have kind of been forgetting that good old white Christian folk are capable of acts of terror too.

 

No idea where the christian bit is coming from. But that hasn`t been mentioned at all in norwegian media.

 

Here in Germany it's still about a Right-Winger. They say it looks like a political motive!

 

There was a note in the BBC article that he put himself as Christian and conservative in his Facebook page. Not that that means much, apparently - you can write whatever you want there, and someone who's willing to indiscriminately murder children can hardly be considered a Christian imo. I definitely don't think it was religion that prompted this massacre.

Then again, this guy is the suspect. Until he's proven guilty, we can't be sure he is responsible.

 

Ohh there is no doubt that he is guilty. They have videos of him doing the act too.

 

Oh. Well, that should settle it. What is the maximum sentence in Norway?

BTW, an article in the local online media mentioned that witnesses of the island shooting said there was a 2nd gunman. Is there anything you've heard about it?
