he will have to prepare his wizard spells like a wizard would and could cast his sorcerer spells as a sorcerer would.

A Wizard/Sorcerer will have two seperate pools of spells.
The spells he learns from scrolls will be part of his Wizard pool and those he selects as Sorcerer will constitute the other.
    You cant mix them both.

If you have a character that has 2 or more spell casting classes, then when you go into select the spells he/she can cast, you'll see options for which class you would like to select. My Rogue 1/Ranger 1/Fighter 1/Wizard 5 can see the Ranger and Wizard tabs, but since I don't have enough Ranger levels there is nothing for me to select on the Ranger tab.

Roleplaying reasons aside, a wiz/sorc multi IMO isn't that great an idea--it's going to take twice as long to get to any particular spell level.
My suggestions is to have one guy be a "pure" caster (for me this would be the sorcerer), and multi the other one with a non-casting class(wizard/rogue, maybe).
