I decided to use Yoshimo For the portals where you first find him in the dungeon and then dump him from my party. After the portal room I decided to do one backstab before I dumped him just to to see what happens if I put him in combat then dump him while he is in danger (because I think/hear he may be untrustworthy, haven't gotten too far in the game yet but I have read a lot of posts). So I hide him, walk him in, backstab then pause to reform party and boot his two-faced @$$#*!& cuz I believe he is EVIL and he needs the smell of my battleworn boots wafting around his head casting the 'Odor of Death' spell.........oh........Boo tells me I'm ranting again...I didn't notice a difference...
Anyway after he backtabs he walks back to my protagonist asking to rejoin and the monsters ignore him :D So i fugure you could probably kill 99% of the monsters in the game this way...backstab with npc, remove from party, let npc walk back to you and rejoin party, rinse and repeat. Just keep the protagonist well out of sight.
I think it would be a kinda boring/possibly cheap way to play the game and it would take forever but with only 2 chars you would probably level faster (maybe not faster in real time but earlier in the game). It could be used for tight situations also. Has anyone heard of this idea before?

I've never heard of this one, but it seems somewhat similar to Fake Talk to me.

So if you think Fake Talk is cheesy, then you'll probably feel the same way about this.

Sounds like a complete hassle and would take more time in micro-management than actually playing normally.

I'm continually amazed at the weird things people keep discovering about these games

Interesting trick, hadn't heard of that one. Cheesy as hell, exploiting the blue circle like that (hellooooo, Fake Talk!), but interesting.

Use it if you want, it's your game.

Yeah, sounds pretty cool. It would have limited use, since many of the "boss" battles are enclosed. But there's a number of times where it would come in very handy.

Neat trick. I'm a bit surprised that it worked so well though. Shouldn't there have been some "attacks in progress" that didn't cancel immediately when the NPC turned blue? I wouldn't expect the sneak attacter to escape unscathed.

I guess this is a free way to let one NPC do as much damage as possible and get him out (to heal) without worrying about monsters chasing after him or poking him in the back while he runs. (I'm thinking gauths and beholders)

My theory is that at first he is tagged as hostile to the monsters, but when you kick him from the party he instantly loses that status meaning the monsters disregard him.
If so then it ought to work with any party member.
